Have done basically nothing today. Went to toddlers this morning then friend asked us back to hers so went there until was time to collect dd from school. Her ds spent the last part puking though so no doubt I will be dealing with sick in the next few days.

Alice as everyone knows I am useless with my phone and have been caught out many a time (wc a prime example!), glad all ok with your friend and congrats to your sister.

H came this morning to take dd to school. Said he was going to make an appointment with the gp to discuss his depression but that he wouldn't take ADs or have counselling or therapy Hmm So basically he isn't actually going to do anything to help himself.

Anon We're going to Build a Bear on Saturday so will think of you in amongst the madness, hopefully I won't be hung over from wedding on Friday night, although I might be driver????

I don't mind telling about my dad just very long but short story is:
He is a narcissist of the highest order, and spent all my life shouting at my brother, hes a moron etc, then all the important occasions in my life, graduating, wedding day, births of my children he either had a major row with someone and completely embarassed me, and lots of other small episodes along the way,
basically behaves like a tantruming toddler, and just thinks his opion is the only one and dosen't care who it hurts or offends,
so when dd2 was born we couldn't think of a name my mum suggested her first name, so dh said it would sound nice with his mums name, (they go perfectly)
but when my dad heard her name he threw a massive tantrum in the hospital, about her having dhs mums name, stormed out of the hospital, my mum rang me to say sorry, and I was crying when she told him he had left me in tears, he said no one cares about his feelings,
So he didn't come to visit and then 2 days before christmas he asked my mum to bring the dcs over to visit him, and i just said No, no one would be going over until he apologised,
and he dosen't think he has done anything wrong(why would someone who hadn't done anything wrong not visit their daughter and new born baby, esp when we were told we were lucky to have her alive, for 7 weeks)
And the lovely Slatterns have helped me through many other little dramas that have happened since then, he has banned my mum from babysitting for me, and I'm not allowed to ring the house phone and told her to put the phone down on me amongst other things, needless to say my relationship with my mum is on thin iceSad

anonymousbird · 02/11/2010 19:00

OOO, no I didn't, I wasn't "formally" a project manager, my job title was something completely different, but I always ended up managing projects that other weren't managing Hmm. I actually preferred the project management to my real job, so seeing as my boss let me get on with it, all were happy!

That sounds a loverly loverly "tool" of the software variety??? I was mulling it over today whilst DS was swimming that there might even be a magic electronic way of dealing with some of this stuff.... I will investigate, thanks for the tip!

anonymousbird · 02/11/2010 19:10

Oh Plum - cross post, I didn't see yours before I posted mine.

You poor thing, and your poor mum who presumably has to cope with this day to day as well... that is so unfair. my sister has very strong narcissist tendencies, so I am on the receiving end of some of what you say, but nothing like what you describe has happened to you.

Despite her best efforts, I still have a relationship with my parents, though she is the constant cloud over it.. What a shame for you, and basically not to be able to contact your mum and her have a relationship with you and your DC is very very difficult... Does your mum ever "sneak" away to speak to you/see you etc? Have you got any contact there? Or is it nay on impossible?

Poor you, I really feel for you Sad.
