New thread ladies Grin

Just going to put DS to bed and then I'll be back with my list.

OP posts:
comtessa · 25/11/2010 11:55

JKS I would love to, but they get on really well with PILs (to the point of email and phone contact) and they've arranged to do a Thanksgiving dinner for us. I usually do a big Thanksgiving dinner for about 15 friends every year, including them, and it was announced to me a few weeks ago that they would do Thanksgiving for DH and I and PILS (grumpy cow emoticon). Which is very kind etc but I was annoyed at being told, not asked, and they're certainly not my closest friends or anything either.

I'm really not this horrible/ungrateful a person usually, honest Blush

Right, enough complaining, frantic housework time to help things along with LO.

Hope everyone else is having a more productive day! Smile

FreakoidOrganisoid · 25/11/2010 12:32

Have just got a very strange and worrying letter through from the council showing that I am not entitled to housing benefit Confused Have phoned them and the lady had no idea why I got it because the system was showing nothing had changed and I would get my next payment as usual. Hopefully that is so but still worrying why I got the letter showing 'Benefit payable £0.00'

Can't wait til I don't need to rely on that anymore!

Back from the gym and just had a nice lunch.

Ali the cricket was indeed disappointing. Slightly surreal here because one of DH's friends "watched" it with us from San Diago - no coverage there so he rang us on skype and we put the laptop in front of the tv for him. V odd!!

JKS Bugaboo cameleon Blush. It's expensive but way sturdier looking than some and nicely compact - not a three-wheeler. Also, should be the only thing we need as it converts to a pushchair. The thing I really liked about it (and was duly approved by my mum - child speech therapist) is that both the pram and the buggy can face either way. Apparently buggy facing mum is good for development, and of course means that LO isn't facing traffic etc at roads. Probably not a big deal, but couldn't see any others which had the dual-facing option.

purplearmadillo · 25/11/2010 14:17

Comtessa, I had a bugaboo frog and now have a bee for the same reason - I loved the rear facing option so I could chat to my DCs while we were out and about. IMO both were worth the money.

Purple - get off the laptop, only one hour left till school pick up.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 25/11/2010 14:30

Soft play and lunch a success, hurrah. DS now exhausted and fast asleep so I have some time to myself.

Comtessa - we have a cameleon and it has been worth every penny. I am the only person I know (besides other cameleon owners) who are still using their original pram/buggy. Everyone else has bought at least one other.
The dual facing is brilliant, DS and I walk along chatting to each other and he isn't thrust out into the traffic.
It needs a good clean and a couple of screws tightening before DC2 comes, but it is basically good as new even after 2.5 years use.

Freak - argh, hope it is just a random letter and that they don't stop your payments! Yes, you can add nice willy to the list - v.important Wink

Some of those pets threads are hysterical. Dogs first, humans second - er, no!

Alice - Cbeebies came around for the second time for us yesterday, so we switched to a Peppa DVD Grin DS has watched no TV at all today though to compensate Wink

DONE
Breakfast
Get showered and dressed

OP posts:
purplearmadillo · 25/11/2010 16:09

Ali I agree about how well the bugaboo lasted. I only changed mine because I needed a new pram for DS. DH was not happy but gave in. That said, we have been up to London on the train loads with DS for his hospital appointments and the smaller bee was great for fitting inside the train and on buses/in cabs etc. Still love it. If I had another DC (unlikely I think Sad I would definitely want another one, but now we live in the country I think DH would want something more rugged.

Sounds interesting, i will look up the chameleon in a bit.

I love the rear-facing option, in fact have changed from my Maclaren to my 3-in-1 M&P thing we were given years ago so DS2 can see me when we walk along so we can talk more.

I fancy the Recaro Zen which isn't out til Jan and is mega-bucks! Still working on DH....Wink

Here you are JustKeep - not sure if there are better prices than John Lewis but JL were great with ordering and delivery.

JustKeepSparkling · 25/11/2010 17:33

Comtessa - i do like the look of that, then DH reminded me that he always liked that one in the shop, but i found it a bit heavy to push (mind you 5yrs ago now so prob a bit different!).

there is a video of the one i want here hopefully. Think DH is coming round Grin

Will be back tomorrow.......

anoknockingmyhousedown · 25/11/2010 18:21

Hello ladies. Can't really read the thread on my iPhone and feel like I am missing out! gather tho that Comtessas baby hasn't arrived.....

Anyway, we are very settled in our very cost and comfy rental, I love the bungalow vno stairs and such a practical layout compared to our higgledy cottage! Speaking of which, it is barely recognisable.... Sad builders not wasting any time.

Hope to have broadband by tomorrow. Have been listmaking like theres no tomorrow! Just using pen and paper.

Hope to be back properly tomorrow.

Anon xxx

Comtessa - that sounds promising, more your state of mind than anything else - you need to go and find a cave! Good luck, will be thinking of you! :)

Hi anon - 'see' you tomorrow!

JKS - I always think your MIL sounds brilliant and useful Grin My baby is breech also, but I could tell that anyway because of being kicked in the bladder....

OP posts:
WastingAway · 25/11/2010 20:09

Evening! Got sucked into a silly thread, but still managed to get stuff done!

I really want a Bee, they look yummy. If/when, I'd love one, but as I've got a perfectly good Emmaljunga 2-in-1 and a serviceable Silver Cross Pop, that might be a bit extravagant. Sad
Not that I'm going to get pg anytime soon, Dh away til next Sat at earliest, then I'll no doubt get another 3 week visit from AF! Hmm

  • lunch 8done*
  • laundry carnival - the airers are bare, let the washing piles beware! progressing
  • get cracking with the cd copying again. (needs to be done) started
  • DS to have a crafty afternoon! some
+ a bit of knitting done + tea done + wash pots done + bath and bed done

Next - internet and knitting!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 25/11/2010 20:10

Where is Plum? No post from her for a while? Hope you're ok Plum and not stressing out too much about your Dad xxx

OP posts:
comtessa · 25/11/2010 20:24

Thanks JKS and Ali. Really hoping this is it and have been doing things like making lasagnes for freezer and sorting out our bedroom etc etc so a real nesting day without having planned to do so. Had a strong contraction while in the bath, so off to bed now to see if I can get some sleep in case this is the real thing ( Blush at having hijacked slatterns thread and turned it into antenatal thread - as you were)
DH was out for post-work birthday drinks for a mutual friend - on my insistence and he's just called to say he'd heading home now. Have really just wanted to be alone all day so that was fine.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 25/11/2010 20:26

Ooh all sounds promising Comtessa Grin Fingers crossed for baby arrival!
