Afternoon!

Freak, I think you're just having to go cold turkey on the wc, no contact. It's not fair on either of you, or the girlfriend really.
You deserve better. Smile

My sore shoulder is making me very grumpy.

Had a good start to the day, but am flagging now, so -

  • close the curtains, lock the door and turn the heating up Grin
  • tea
  • wash pots
  • tidy up + PUT THE SOFA COVER ON
  • DS bath and bed
  • Christmas planning - get it all sorted
  • knitting
Alibabaandthe40nappies · 24/11/2010 16:55

Afternoon everyone :)

Quite a productive day here, and scan went well Grin We don't know what we're having, sonographer couldn't be sure. There weren't any obvious boy bits, but that doesn't mean anything so we are planning for another neutral baby! Rang my Mum, and she said 'well that's not very helpful for knitting!' GrinGrin
Important thing is though that the heart is all fine and baby had grown the requisite amount since a fortnight ago - maybe I will stop worrying now!!!!

Freak - :( :( I feel so bad for you. I know that it will be hard for him too, but don't feel too sorry for him. When he leaves you he goes home to someone else, so he really isn't being fair on you at all, or his girlfriend. He is being very ungentlemanly I think. If I lived nearer I would come and give him a piece of my mind Grin

FreakoidOrganisoid · 24/11/2010 18:22

Thanks again everyone, am a right whinger aren't I??? Wasting yep cold turkey is needed I think, I was doing ok not seeing him even though I was really missing him. At least my windows are sorted for the next few weeks so there is no reason for him to come (apart from ds having invited him to his birthday Confused). And at least the feeling sad was restricted to a few hours last night, improvement anyway!

Mini I had an ideal man list a few threads back, will see if I can dig it out Grin

Have not done much today but have finished xmas shopping! Just need the xmas pjs and a tin of biscuits or something for my nan. Where's good for cheapish pj's?

minimammoth · 24/11/2010 18:32

dig it out. lets work on it Grin
I love a challenge.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 24/11/2010 18:52

Have had a search but couldn't find it and don't fancy trawling through all our threads! The bits I can remember off the top of my head are:
Nice smile
Friendly
Affectionate
Good with children
Positive thinker

That's not much to ask is it?

comtessa · 24/11/2010 19:00

Evening all. Welcome to Shaxx!

Well, change of plan for yesterday, hadn't felt LO's movements all day so called hospital, who asked me to come for monitoring. All fine but asked to come back for scan today to be on the safe side.

Went in for scan this morning, all fine and LO back to usual movements (clearly having a sleepy day yesterday). And then I asked the MW what the estimated weight was. 4700g, which didn't sink in until later when I converted it into pounds. 10lbs 5oz. Crikey. Due date Saturday 27th November.

Glad to hear your scan went well too Ali.

Late list following nap:

Today
Washing up
Washing
Pram?
Cook dinner
Run up and down stairs/lunges/squats/seduce DH/anything to help LO along

FreakoidOrganisoid · 24/11/2010 19:22

Glad the scan went well Comtessa and all is ok with baby. Had similar with dd where she stopped moving much and I had to be monitored, think she was just getting ready to come out

Shaxx · 24/11/2010 19:30

Congrats Ali and Comtessa! Exciting baby stuff going on for both of you! Smile

Sorry, Freakoid I don't really know your situation but it sounds like youre getting good advice here. Good luck!

Well, I didn't progress as much as I wanted to with my list but I had a friend come over in the morning and another friend came in the afternoon with her son.
I also had to go to the supermarket which I forgot to put on my list.

I bought a scented candle and my living room smells wonderful. Its tidy too. Dh is at a Xmas party so I'm going to love chilling out on my own this evening Smile

purplearmadillo · 24/11/2010 19:48

Comtessa glad all was well but Shock at a 10 pound baby. Both of mine were small, but with DD she was a good half a pound under the estimate from the scan a week before she arrived, so perhaps your baby will be a little bit smaller. Definitely a good size though....

JKS - we also had fish fingers here today. I completely understand where you are coming from re nervous dental patients. I was the same for a long time, but I've got over it a bit now after I had a root canal that went wrong Shock. I had so much stuff done that I kind of got over the fear because none of it was as bad as I thought. That said, I'm still scared of the hygienist and have a bit of a phobia about having my gums touched Blush.

Ali, congratulations on the scan. My DB just had a baby and didn't know the sex and it really interfered with my mum's knitting!!!!! When I had DD, she turned up in advance with two massive bags full of knitted baby girl's clothes Smile

So back to the list.

WEDNESDAY - done
change children's beds done
DS swimming lesson done
check bank account done
moving savings to new account done
make children's beds done twice
look into shred and possibly order ordered
make counselling appointment didn't do it Blush
tidy inside my wardrobe done
put away washing done
meal plan for weekend done
organise ds's hospital stay this weekend
DD ballet lesson done
DD homework done
DD final 3 thank you cards done
Located law firm recommendations for friend done
Sort clothes for charity collection done
Wrap 3 xmas presents

CHRISTMAS
Wrap presents STARTED
Christmas card list
Finish list of presents
Order last presents on line
Meal plan for entertaining between Xmas and New Year DONE
Shopping list for entertaining
Decide which presents to give DS and which to save for birthday

So a good start. I'm staying up to watch the start of the Ashes tonight so might try and prepare tomorrow's list tonight, so I know what needs doing. I am feeling in control now though, which is brilliant.

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 24/11/2010 20:13

Comtessa Shock if it helps, when they pulled DS out, the surgeon said "It's a whopper" Grin i think the scans and weight estimation can be a bit hit and miss tbh, I was told F was going to be small side of average Hmm and my friend had her baby at 34wks and was shown round the scbu being told that these tiny babies were what to expect, (she was being induced for pre-eclampsia) and her baby was 8lbs something. We could all have a sweepstake if you like Grin i am going for 9lb2oz (because F was and it is a good weight Grin)

Have put toys away and cleared kitchen, dishy on. That is enough for this evening as i still feel poorly.

minimammoth · 24/11/2010 20:43

OK Freaki. its a good start.
Nice smile
Friendly
Affectionate
Good with children
Positive thinker
I would suggest you are more specific.
How about adding: good communicator, genuine, honest, financially solvent, supportive, loving, sexy, intelligent, caring, thoughtful. Would you say no to any of those?
This may seem a fantasy exercise, but will actually help you in defining the kind of person you are willing to share your life with and not fall into the patterns of the past.
Sorry if I am being a bit serious, just trying to help.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 24/11/2010 20:45

Plan for xmas

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 24/11/2010 20:49

Alice - hope you feel better soon, and you Wasting with your shoulder.

Comtessa - don't worry, these estimates are notoriously inaccurate. A friend who had an elective due to obstetric cholestasis (sp?) was scanned and told the baby was going to be huge, 9lbs+, and when he came out he was 6lbs12oz. Another friend was told her baby would be small and he was 8lbs13oz.

purple - we are staying up to watch the start of the Ashes too, so exciting! Must not stay up every night though, otherwise I will be a wreck Grin

Freak - it isn't much to ask. May I recommend adding 'sense of humour about self' to that list? Nothing more horrendous to live with than a man who takes himself too seriously Grin
And pjs for who - you or DCs? If you then I recommend Debenhams. They do mix and match tops, bottoms and nightie things which are all nice and cotton and soft and pretty cheap but wash well. I'm still wearing some of my pre-pregnancy ones, but with a nightie over trousers to cover bump IYSWIM?

JKS - hope the scan goes well tomorrow, eek exciting! :)

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 24/11/2010 20:53

Mini you are very wise, and I completely agree with you. Nothing wrong with being fussy and I agree with all the things on your list.

OP posts:
minimammoth · 24/11/2010 20:57

YES sense of humour essential Ali defo add to list Freaki.
I am getting no further with xmas plans at all.[frustrated emoticon]
maybe next week. If my family will give me a clue. Not you HMHB you're sorted. Also possibly Mr HicCups.

comtessa · 24/11/2010 21:01

Ooh, good list Mini. In fact I did the same thing on the advice of my former flatmate before I started seeing now-DH.

Other things that may be important to you:
Emotionally intelligent

Also assess how you want he will make you feel when you are with him (good barometer) - a few ideas below:
Cared for
Appreciated
Sexy
Attractive
Intelligent
Relaxed/At peace
Capable
Hopeful

Today
Washing up done
Washing done
Pram?
Cook dinner in progress
Run up and down stairs/lunges/squats/seduce DH/anything to help LO along up and down stairs a lot

purplearmadillo · 24/11/2010 21:06

Comtessa, that's interesting. Emotional intelligence - my DH is great and has many attributes listed elsewhere but I do think he lacks emotional intelligence and if he had it, it would make my life (and therefore his Grin) much happier.

minimammoth · 24/11/2010 21:09

Great additions Comtessa. We could add: willingness to change
and also that the relationship works on all levels. Levels being practical, life, home work, money. Emotional, showing empathy and harmony, Mental, spiritual? if you are into that, is he?
And look at what you are willing to compromise on.

Enough from the agony AuntGrin

HicUps · 24/11/2010 22:15

Evening All,

I will write a list at some point, I promise.

Have been in London today. Westminster no less. No I wasn't a rioting student, but I did get a bit caught up in it all. Masses of police that had penned in the students... no wonder there is trouble. Massive police horses and helicopters and everything.

I was at a conference that was so boring.. I bunked off early! Well.... I thought a little mose around the National Gallery might be nice :). Amazing how a bit of Monet and Renior in real life, cheers the soul.

mini - bubble bath/ Jamie Oliver 30 minute menu's will do me for Chrimbo. Please don't get stressed about xmas shopping, its not even Dec yet!

Hello HMHB

Welcome to Shaxx

On the man front - I'd add 'willingness to compromise', I think asking for willingness to change is a bit much!!

comtessa · 24/11/2010 23:08

Right, time to be organised:

Thursday
Birthday gift for W
Final pie-making extravaganza for Saturday afternoon
Clear bedroom
Dismantle clothes rail and take up to spare room
More baby clothes washing (3 - 6 months range, just to be on the safe side)
Parcel up maternity clothes to send to N
Parcel up baby clothes to send to N, A and F (LO not even here yet but have been given so many second-hand ones as well as new ones)

AliceandtheGinormousBaps · 25/11/2010 07:37

Morning Smile

Lots to do, friends coming over for dinner after school.

DONE
Everyone up
Have shower and wash hair

Feed and change F

TO DO
Finish getting dressed
Breakfast for everyone
DH park my car
Calpol for F (possibly, is gnawing at his hand and very grumpy - see how we get on)
Empty dishy
Put washload on

Then come back to add to it
