Got to zoom out in a bit, but amused myself by getting the PJs discussion mixed up with the wall lights discussion. Pjs in chrome with curly iron bits anyone Grin
see ya later
I like the lemon/ lilac combo idea.
In my colour therapy book it has yellow as a colour that is mentally stimulating (no sleep then)so paler would be better, green/blue more calming and soothing. pink/peach nurturing.
then it would depend on the natural light too.
Sorry I seem to have gone on a bit there Smile

WastingAway · 11/11/2010 09:26

DS room has always been magnolia, like every other room in the house. Grin Landlord wouldn't care tbh, but I'm really bad at painting. Grin

I never had a nursery Sad Am a bit jealous, need more babies so they can have a nursery! Although I'd need a new house first because atm it would be cot squashed in my room/dc room Grin

Plum I like both lights, first ones look like they may attract cobwebs though and if the second ones were by a sofa the downward pointing bit could be shining right in someone's eye.

Mini yes please to spell. maybe we could arrange a power of MN thing as well, where everyone sends "dump your gf and love freak" vibes to him Wink

Such a grey and gloomy day here, but dd's back at school. I had planned to dust today but as it is so dark I can't see the dust, therefore it does not need doing.

anonymousbird · 11/11/2010 11:15

Freaki - the "can't see the dust thing" is fantastic!!!! Our kitchen, especially in the autumn/winter on a sunny day is a nightmare. Sun low in the sky blasts through and you see EVERY SINGLE SPECK. I utterly hate it. On a crappy old day like today, I can barely see the swirling pile of dog hair and dust around the bin (sorry TMI). Bleugh. Actually, it is really bad, I may actually have to hoover today.

Well I have painted ceiling and collected dd2, so we are going to have lunch and start on walls
lighting dilema solved dh likes the matching ones to dining room tbh CBA searching for something else, he's a hard man to convince sometimes although he will say decorating is left completely to me Hmm I tend to pick things that I know he will like as sometimes he finds it harder to see the bigger picture, (and I'm too indecisive)

Comtessa can you send me some cherry pie, have never had any, always wanted to taste it, didn't Kyle whats his name always order it on Twin Peaks?

JKS - that is crap re heating, hope it sorted soon..

I am as wet as a bloody wet thing!! Just walked the dog as I am off out shortly and got soaked. I had on my long hooded waterproof coat, my full on super duper dog walking boots, but still need to completely change my clothes before I go out.

How can it be that going up hill, the wind and rain are blowing in my face (and in and under hood/down neck somehow), then coming back down the very same hill the wind and rain are STILL blowing in my face etc?! Tell me that someone??

Oh, and how is it, that now I am back in and home, it has actually STOPPED raining?

Law of sod clearly in force today! Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.

comtessa · 11/11/2010 15:26

(Sends Plum some internet cherry pie)
I use frozen cherries from Asda - much easier than using fresh and pitting them. Also cheaper. Alternatively tinned cherries in juice are fine.
As I was making so many, I've cheated this time and bought ready-made pie cases (Asda again). But taste almost as good and only about 60p each.
Put cherries and a small cup of water in saucepan, add about 2oz granulated sugar - may need more to taste later as cherries can be quite sharp. Bring to boil for sugar to dissolve. Take about 2tbsps of this and put in small glass/bowl and mix with 2tsps cornflour. When smooth, add this cornflour mixture to saucepan. Turn heat up high and keep stirring for a couple of minutes, then let simmer for a little while until thickened. If not thick enough, repeat cornflour step. Add vodka, kirsch or other alcohol as desired - just gives an extra edge to it Wink. Pour into pie case and when cool, put in fridge to set. Reheat if desired. Works really well hot with vanilla ice-cream. I usually make this as an open pie, but if making your own pastry then obviously up to you and pie will then need to be baked.

Anon arf at your dusting comment - that's usually my style too. If you can't see it, it's not there.

PILs arrived safely thanks, had lovely (belated) birthday dinner for FIL at ours last night and they came by today for lunch and to help measure up for curtains and curtain poles. They are awesome PILS. Am very lucky.

Right, had better get to bank before it shuts as have gone overdrawn Blush. Never mind, DH payday tomorrow and MA kicks in next week. Happy listing/PJ shopping.

PlumBumMum · 11/11/2010 15:38

2nd coat on ceiling done
first coat on walls done looks warmer already

PlumBumMum · 11/11/2010 15:39

You've got me cherries & alcohol will print that off later

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 11/11/2010 15:53

Comtessa that sounds yummy. I will make a mini one I think, have got some pastry in the fridge which needs using and Ocado can bring me some cherries tomorrow :)

Plum - when you paint, do you wait for the ceiling to dry before you mask it to do the walls, or are you just careful? I am crap at painting, but really want to do the living room once the fireplace is in and I know a painter will charge a fortune.

JKS - bbrrrr! Early night tonight to stay cosy!

Hi Everyone, I scraped someones car today Blushwas tring to park straight, am mortified, I fessed up though, but embarrassed. My car fine, a little srape on the back bumper.
Re dust- also for your wrinkles, not that any of you lot will have them. Its amazing how kind low lighting is.

JKS what you need is a slanketGrin

Am off to fantasize about cherry pie.

anonymousbird · 11/11/2010 17:40

Hello all. Cherry pie, cor, never made one, but now I might have to give it a go!

Plum - that is demon decorating, good on you.

Just realised in the midst of the chaos that is my life right now, that it is our 12th anniversary on Sunday!!!! Gawd, we were so young and freshfaced. Unlike now Confused.

Mini - those slankets are quite something huh??

DS has had a Good Day - went up a reading level (yey, proud mum alert!) AND got a real thumbs up from the specialist (eyes) and can now start to reduce how much he wears his patch.. at long long last. Eyesight doing really well - damned long sighted, he always will be, but at least both eyes are now working almost equally so can't ask for more than that. Smile

FreakoidOrganisoid · 11/11/2010 18:40

Mini I think maybe you need to change the spell to finding me a SINGLE man even better than wc. Otherwise it's not very nice for the gf. Or the dc involved.

I have wrinkles btw. And I still get spots. How is that fair?? Kind of thought I'd have a period of good skin in between spots and wrinkles.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 11/11/2010 18:42

JKS my parents keep doors closed too, it does help when you live in a cold draughty house! Hope the boiler gets fixed asap for you

PlumBumMum · 11/11/2010 18:54

Ali I'm sooo fussy about cutting in, I'm just really careful, I wouldn't put tape on my new paint, I'm having a mini panic attack just thinking about it,
But you coul cut in your ceiling the night before so paint is dry when you are cutting in your wall

Every where is painted and masking tape removed, but no chance of dh doing any drilling tonight , so I am going to Iron my new curtains and make bed,

thats it then bath

TOMORROW
school runs
tax dh van
go to friends for coffee with our other friend we haven't seen in ages!!
floor needs a good clean
curtain pole & curtains
new tv (bought last christmas, still in boxBlush)
light fitting

have a full tin of paint over might use it to paint chimney breast in living room as dd2 drew a lovely stick man sporticus on it "to make it a lazy town room"Hmm with lots of blue doodles, granted also last year and I never got round to painting over itBlush

PlumBumMum · 11/11/2010 19:34

QUICK QUICK while I'm feeling brave wedding photo pic and a boring one of bedroom, remember bedroom was a strange 2 tone pale blue before

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 11/11/2010 20:14

Plum you look so glam! Grin And so young Envy

Love the colour in your room, really nice. Our bedroom is chocolate brown and a kind of buttermilk colour on alternating walls. I quite like it but am itching to change it for no reason, I've got 'new baby coming must re-organise the whole house' syndrome going on Grin

We have had takeaway for dinner, I ran out of steam :)

OP posts:
minimammoth · 11/11/2010 21:17

Freaki, the vibes must work for the best outcome of everyone. However a nice single man with no baggage I presume. I'll just nip off and start the cauldron.Grin
PLUM you look gorgeous hair up all sophisticated.. Agree about the cutting in.
