afternoon all

wendy thanks for the concern. Yes, had similar high stress when MIL and SIL came to stay here last Nov. tbh interaction with in-laws usually reults in stess and argumants.
Well done ds at sports day!Must admit I always find various sports days long and drawn out and quite boring LOL

Dyls ooh fingers crossed fornice job waiting for you after pgcse

ruby nearly there!

swan you talk a lot of sense! tbh, if we could afford torent sperate house then all would be fine, and I would cope.2 weeks under the same roof as out-laws is just a bit too much sometimes LOL
and yes, it is of course different for DH, and I realise how important it is for him to visit his family and Ireland.and yes indeed, he does miss his Dad, a lot
Sooo have resolved to make the best of the trip. will go and be a picture of calmness and sweetness...well maybe till SIL starts LOL

sooo Ferry now booked (I hope!) for Sat morning
have been doing major battle with washing and clothes this morning.
My valiant efforts to win the battle of the washing mountain are being hampered by pouring rain, hence I now have clothes hung and draped in every possible corner of the house...but I will succeedd....I truly believe there is a bottom to the washingbasket...I'm sure I saw it once long ago...LOL

loads to do before Sat...need a list!

To do:
go through half packed suitcases and rationalise (not going for quite so long now...phew)
empty wm
load td
put whites wash on
clean washing away
sort and pack shoes for everyone including wellies (highly essential for Ireland LOL)
on-line banking

tomorrow
pet shop for dog food and DAP spray (Bella will need calming for journey and may need it at in-laws too! think I might try it too if things get bad!)
Buy food for journey
buy chocoalte for nursery teachers and card
final packing of suitcases
.... will add more as I remember ....

MickyLee I only returned yesterday so I'm lost too Hello by the way as I can't remember seeing you before my self imposed exile

MNTotoro · 22/07/2010 17:21

I only came back yesterday too so not sure what's going on with everyone

MickyLee · 22/07/2010 18:12

Hello grouch and MN nice to meet you both xx

grouchyoscar · 22/07/2010 19:27

I was AOK until Xmas then I got slowly kidnapped by Gary Lightbody and his mates. He's been tricky to get out of my system (actually, he isn't out at all, I've just learned to live with it)

Got the trip to Glasgow out of the way and my Dad took seriously ill. 2 weeks later he sadly died. It was his funeral on Monday. School broke up for the summer on Tuesday and yesterday was a good time to pop back

So that's 7 months summed up in 2 paragraphs. Now how've you all been?

MNTotoro · 22/07/2010 19:52

Sorry to hear that Grouchy. I'm EV btw

DS off school with a sore throat today. A friend took DD to nursery for me. He is ok but probably wouldn't have been when the Calpol wore off. it's his first day off this year! Still Monday and Tuesday to go, didn't want him to miss his last few days but bet he misses some award or something for 100% attendance!

Otherwise not much going on

To do
washing and hang out
dishwasher
painting with DC
what's for tea?
tidy upstairs
put our bedding in washer?
quick vac round

dylsmum1998 · 23/07/2010 10:40

Oh I never got to bore you all senseless with our weekend in Glasgow details did I?

Well...Trip up was ace, went through The Yorkshire Dales and over the ribblehead viaduct, Hotel splendid, Italian round the corner was excellent. Day of the gig, I'd suggested a meet up with members of the forum outside the bar Gary used to work at, I was also collecting birthday cards for Gary (but god alone knows how I would get them to him)

Whilst milling around the bar a couple of blokes walk past and one says 'Hello you lot', my friend starts to melt and hyperventilate, when I say 'Is that who I think it was' she says 'Yes, it was Nathan Connolly and Jonny McDaid!' (lead gitarist and friend of the band). Then my brain ticks over...I've got a bag of cards for Nathan's best mate, security would just bin them so they stand a better chance with Nathan...Grabbing my friend I head off after the blokes thinking 'they've dissapeared, can't have gone far'. 4th shop along was a chinese restaurant and in there are Nathan and Jonny.

I politly explain to the waitresses that I had something to pass to a client, It worked and I end up at their table. As mi ramble a series of 'sorrys' and 'i know this is your personal time' etc etc, He turns round and makes eye contact, Crikey, the man is devastatingly attractive, knock you off your feet type thing. We get a 'Yep, sure I'll get them to him' Then he starts talking to us! Asking if we were going early to see all the bands. How sweet of him.

Then....Ed appears and introduces himself . Nathan gets down to EDd's eye level and starts to talk to him! All the adults could have disappeared into clouds, it was just Ed and Nate chatting away. What a really truly great bloke.

The mini festival was great, Snow Patrol were sublime and all was just wonderful. 10 rows from the front, it was just awesome. We will see SP again.

Anyway, today I have

Made the bed
Wash and meds
Empty DW
Put away
Take Ed downtown for brunch
light shopping

TO DO

Make mudclock with Ed
Make his worm farm
Ironing
Mend shower curtains
Hang them round the bath
Joint a whole chicken

If I can

Sorry to ramble, it is helping me to retain my sanity

dylsmum1998 · 23/07/2010 13:09

GO sounds fantastic and how nice of Nathan to speak with Ed

Quick update on the lists, am trying to get everything done before summer holiday madness unveils itself, esp. as my sis phoned and wants to stay with her 3 for a few days next week

done;
load washer
dc to school/ nursery
clean windows
rubbish out
tidy everywhere
hoover everywhere
wash up
clean bathrooms
unload washer
iron.
finish quilt topper for sis baby

to do;
get washing in
iron
school fair
collect dc
take teachers presents in as we forgot them this morning
gardening

Right, going to tacklel the garden next

OP posts:
grouchyoscar · 23/07/2010 15:46

Ok, on the way home I stopped off at the angling supply shop and bought a box of worms
So, I suggest to Ed we make his worm farm that we got for his birthday

But 1st the mud clock, it works but screwing the wires to the blocks was tricky. Then the Worm farm, note to self, do not let a clumsy kid try to fill a thin tank with soil. 7 Worms happy in tank, the remainder happy in the compost bin.

Tidy up involved sweeping and mopping all of downstairs. I'm resting up while the floors dry

dylsmum1998 · 23/07/2010 22:15

OFM almost I could barely speak to nursery staff when I picked dd up as I was so chocked up .
Enjoy your holiday at the 2am departure though!

We went to ds school fair, I won a bottle of wine and dc won some choccies each

DD decorated a kitchen apron after school. Then they both played nicely in the gareden for a bit, once they had finished playing we made popcorn and watched our new love film dvd- hairspray- dc are now in bed sining "the motion of the ocean........."

I'm watching Eastenders before I write my blog for today, then off to bed. Tomorrow dd is with her dad, ds and I are going to get his school uniform after his swimming lesson.

night all

wendyhappysmile · 24/07/2010 09:51

Morning all

DS went to school at 10.30 just in time for assembly, said he wanted to go and felt better - I was dubious but let him. Good job as he got his 100% attendance certificate in assembly ! He looked grim when I picked him up and I put him to bed, he slept for an hour and perked up a little, went back to bed at 6 and slept til 7.30, and today he is tonnes better. His immune system is really good, like his Dad's.

DD a bit whiney today, she still has the virus, so no swimming, DH and DS at golf lesson. May have quiet afternoon playing in garden etc. I need to do some garden veg work too.

Have a good day all
