Regret my wallpaper choice - help me feel better!

As the title says really! Decorating my baby’s nursery and now that it’s up I hate the wallpaper. It was expensive and so can’t justify changing it. It’s sad to dislike something we put so much effort into to choosing. I wish I was more gifted at interior design :( wish I’d gone for blue stripes instead.

Any tips / advice very welcome!

Its not what I would choose for a nursery I must admit but all I can say is can you break it up with pictures a mirror shelves?

babystarsandmoon · 13/05/2025 09:01

I like it. It has a relaxing feel about it and neutrals are in at the moment.

candycane222 · 13/05/2025 09:03

Ooh that's nice and is cosy and friendly , without being babyish. (So much longer-lasting and more versatile ) Good choice imo

MrsPlantagenet · 13/05/2025 09:03

You obviously liked it when you chose it, so give it some time. It’s a nice neutral colour and once you’ve added shelves and furniture, I bet you’ll like it again.

Virtualhelp · 13/05/2025 09:05

I think once you’ve got some bits up in the wall it will look great. I quite like it and it’s neutral so easy to match to things

Roselilly36 · 13/05/2025 09:06

It looks nice, will last etc, see how you feel once the room is set up with furniture, pictures etc, at the moment you are just focusing on the wallpaper, it will look totally different once the room is set.

TotemPolly · 13/05/2025 09:06

It's a shame you don't like it as you obviously did when you purchased it.
Tbh it's not my taste at all and agree it's not saying nursery to you .
However it's done now , get all your furnishings in the room and set it all out and I expect you will get the love back . Congratulations on the baby !

GenerousGardener · 13/05/2025 09:12

I really like it. It’s neutral and very relaxed. Once you are used to it you will stop seeing it. Give it time.

Crankyaboutfood · 13/05/2025 09:13

I adore it. it will look great when the furniture is in. It’s whimsical without being too babyish.

PeggyMitchellsCameo · 13/05/2025 09:13

I think it’s fabulous! Neutral but without being boring!

TumbledTussocks · 13/05/2025 09:15

You don’t have to keep it if you hate it
expensive or not just strip and paint
but assuming you’re pregnant if you’re decorating a nursery and remember my taste and decision making was all over the place when I was pregnant.

it will look better with furniture in though.

MissyB1 · 13/05/2025 09:17

It's lovely. Once you have the furniture in and some nice pictures /decorations on the wall it will feel more like the nursery.

Oceangrey · 13/05/2025 09:18

It's nice, just needs other stuff in the room including a bit of colour to break it up. It will be a good backdrop.

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 13/05/2025 09:24

leave it up for a while... the baby won't care!

lilaclemon · 13/05/2025 09:26

It’s gorgeous

dairydebris · 13/05/2025 09:28

I love it! You just need a large antique chest of drawers with a rich wood patina with a big plant on top and a light, some pictures etc it'll look great. Fun, without being too babyish. Wallpaper always looks really stark before furniture in.

Justgoingforaweeliedown · 13/05/2025 09:31

Is it munks and me? If not, they've got one very similar. Have a look on their website and Instagram for ideas. I'm sure it'll look different once you start to furnish and add curtains etc. It can just be a bit overwhelming when you first add pattern but as you bring things into the room it'll change it. I'm sure it'll be lovely.

ToriTheStoryteller · 13/05/2025 09:32

It's a really stylish, adaptable design. You could lean into the neutrals with pale shades, or you could create a more fun vibe with retro accents that are a tad darker than full-on brights: eg burnt orange, dark turquoise and dark emerald green.

Look at mid-century colour schemes if you wanted to go with the off-brights.

purrrge · 13/05/2025 09:32

I absolutely LOVE it! Well done!

Griffyn · 13/05/2025 09:34

I think it looks lovely- calm and neutral and not cutesy babyish - so it will work as your baby gets older as well.

Mischance · 13/05/2025 09:34

It will grow on you!

TooGoodToGoto · 13/05/2025 09:35

I love it! It’s warm and fun!

SummertimeFeelingFine · 13/05/2025 09:38

I think it's much nicer than it would've been had you chosen blue, if that helps.

I think you'll get used to it, just give it time. It's a lovely, calm, restful colour.

ihaterunning111 · 13/05/2025 09:40

Blue stripes is a bit 'boy's bedroom in the 90s'. This is lovely and versatile. Put up some fun shelves and pictures.

kindlyensure · 13/05/2025 09:47

I think it's the stripes rather than the colour that is overwhelming - the colour is lovely. Really restful and neutral. So it would have been a big fat No to the blue stripes. You can definitely let that one go.

Wallpaper can look a bit much when it's all there is in a room. But once it is furnished and with some prints on the wall etc it will look great. I love the handpainted look of the circles. Very Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant!
