Regret my wallpaper choice - help me feel better!

As the title says really! Decorating my baby’s nursery and now that it’s up I hate the wallpaper. It was expensive and so can’t justify changing it. It’s sad to dislike something we put so much effort into to choosing. I wish I was more gifted at interior design :( wish I’d gone for blue stripes instead.

Any tips / advice very welcome!

I think it’s lovely. I have lived in rentals when both my children were born and couldn’t change the decor so could only rely on wall stickers. The amount of effort you have put into this is fantastic xxx

I think it’s pretty, once you put up some extra bits and pieces you will like it.

Paint the door frame and skirting in a pastel green (I can choose a colour if you like). You can also paint the ceiling in the same colour to create more cohesion and to stop the eye from settling in one place. I provide 3D visualisations if you need help! I'm an interiors consultant :)

Why don’t you add panelling on the bottom half and paint with the darker beige colour? Or just add some framing and paint over the wall paper? It may help soften the wall paper. I actually don’t dislike this. But agree can feel a bit overwhelming.

It makes the whole room look like a giant playpen. So perfect for a nursery really!

I think it’s a lovely wallpaper (and colour). but the stripes all the way down make it too much. I would put some a dado rail at hip height and then paint below in either the lighter or the darker colour.

Gettingbysomehow · 22/05/2025 12:41

Somehow I knew it would be stripes. Null pointes for beige stripes.
Sorry I'm not usually this critical but its so 1980s an era I suffered through with a particular hatred for every design and fashion item.
It's more nursing home than nursery. It's giving me nightmares. Get rid of it.

aliceinawonderland · 22/05/2025 12:42

Or if you’re not good at carpentry, just draw a line around and paint below( or get a white embossed wallpaper dado /border

PrettyPuss · 22/05/2025 12:44

It'll look fine once you have put the furniture back in!

Summerloveunderthetrees · 22/05/2025 15:29

i know you've said you don't like it, but i think it's gorgeous and would love to know where it's from?

Purplecatshopaholic · 22/05/2025 15:41

It’s not my taste, but I suspect it will wear a lot better than blue stripes… I’d give it time to see if you can live with it. You may find it grows on you, or you forget about it all together. It will probably wear well as it’s pretty inoffensive too, not faddy. If you really can’t live with it - and as I say, it’s not my taste - I’d just paint over it.

pimplebum · 22/05/2025 15:44

It’s nice and neutral and looks expensive
it’s a bit much for a small room can you leave it on one wall as a feature and paint the others

Itsawildworld85 · 22/05/2025 15:47

I love it, it will look great with some wall art
