Regret my wallpaper choice - help me feel better!

As the title says really! Decorating my baby’s nursery and now that it’s up I hate the wallpaper. It was expensive and so can’t justify changing it. It’s sad to dislike something we put so much effort into to choosing. I wish I was more gifted at interior design :( wish I’d gone for blue stripes instead.

Any tips / advice very welcome!

I love it.

You know, my initial response was negative, but when I opened your pics I thought it was actuality really nice. I've not seen that before. It's an interesting mix of bold but calm and neutral without being boring.

@Dalmatian0 definitely not the right paper for a nursery! muted primary colours would have been better. I would bite the bullet and replace it.

MrsKeats · 13/05/2025 09:58

I really like it.

Pibrea · 13/05/2025 09:58

I absolutely love it. Perfect for a nursery. Fun but still pretty. Where is it from?

It's perfectly fine for a nursery.

I like it looks lovely.

If you want regret or worse i have one.
I done my whole kitchen cupboards sides drawers the whole thing in gray marble.
Now looked good in my head but i really dont like it now its done.
Others like it but not me.
I thought ill just live with it for now its new i need to get use to it.
No i cant so i will be stripping it back off at some point.
Its just not the look im comfortable with.
A good job i dont mind wasting money.

SEPMum · 13/05/2025 10:02

Love it!! It'll fade into the background more when the room is furnished. I always get a jump-scare when I do anything new in the house but you have to trust your judgement.

FunMustard · 13/05/2025 10:02

I love it. Neutral but a bit fun for a child, but not childish.

The room is empty. When you have all your other bits and bobs in there, including the baby, you'll feel better I promise.

Also - if you still really hate it later on - don't sweat it, your baby won't care if it doesn't get updated till they're 5 lol!

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 13/05/2025 10:08

I think it's perfectly nice for a nursery. Would you consider changing the light switch and sockets? The traditional style looks a bit at odds with the modern wallpaper, but it could just look like that in the photos.

BerniesAuntie · 13/05/2025 10:08

Opened this thread hoping for something truly hideous to laugh at but it’s disappointingly very tasteful. It’s quite current for a nursery too I think.

FeministUnderTheCatriarchy · 13/05/2025 10:09

I love it and think it will do them for longer than if you had chosen a typical nursery wallpaper.

I would do a Safari theme with giraffes and one of those fun linen tents in the corner. Kind of like this picture

The more I look at these pictures, the more I love the wallpaper. I think it's a really classy look.

Ghosttofu99 · 13/05/2025 10:10

I think the colour palette looks nice. The gold light switch/door nob don’t really go so maybe changing them would help. I’d also consider painting the woodwork a complimentary colour. A bit like in this pic:

I like it! Give yourself some time to get used to it, hopefully it’ll grow on you.

anywherehollie · 13/05/2025 10:18

I like it a lot 🙂

WildCherryBlossom · 13/05/2025 10:21

Agree with pp who says fun without being too babyish. It will work for years as a backdrop to the rest of your decor as your child grows.

Cluckycluck · 13/05/2025 10:21

I like it. With the right furniture it will look great.

I'd also add some colour by painting the woodwork a colour rather than white

RickiRaccoon · 13/05/2025 10:22

I was prepared for something bad from the title. It's cute.

I think once you add some artwork on the walls, it'll look really cool. I'm imagining blue accents along with other neutrals. A few bigger art pieces to cover/ break up the wallpaper will prob help you get more used to it.

isitmeamithedrama · 13/05/2025 10:22

I like it. Once you’ve got the furniture up and some decoration/shelves on the wall and curtains/blinds up it will totally change the look.
its not your standard nursery print but it’s more versatile and will last longer while the child grows.

TheGirlWhoLived · 13/05/2025 10:22

I really like it!! Very Billie Faiers vibe- like a pp I would break up the strips with plain book shelves, a large linen (plain) tent in the corner, keep all furniture/ lamps/ceiling shade plain either in the same green or beige.

Artwork is going to be the key, you want large a3+ pictures featuring a lot of white space, this will break up the stripes. Once you have the space decked out it will look much less overwhelming. These colours really lean themselves towards neutral safari if that is your think too!

I think it’s perfect for a nursery. Calm and relaxing, not too ‘babyish’ so it can grow with the baby. I think it’s fab.

NameChangedOfc · 13/05/2025 10:26

I agree with other pps: not my personal style, but I see nothing wrong with it! Neutral-warmish, quite relaxing, fun pattern (which child doesn't love a pattern?), not explicitly babyish so will last...
Once you put up furniture and decorations, you'll see it differently. It isn't meant to be an empty room, after all.

verycloakanddaggers · 13/05/2025 10:26

It's really nice. Give it at least six weeks to get used to it.

Don't try to 'break it up' you'll make it look messy and confusing.

I think you've made a good choice.

sonoonetoldyoulifewasgonnabethisway · 13/05/2025 10:29

what curtains, bedding and furniture are you putting in. Some pictures and shelves on the wall, a nursing chair etc and you will hardly notice the wallpaper - it has potential
