What colour front door with pebble grey windows please??

TL;DR: we’re getting pebble grey windows. Would you also get the front (French window) doors and garage door the same colour? If not, what colour would you get them?

I would really appreciate some opinions…

We’re about to get all of our windows replaced with pebble grey flush upvc (the name has grey in it but they’re actually more of a greeney-taupe - RAL 7032 if anyone cares enough to look it up!) and our garage door and front door also need replacing.

My concern is that our house is quite wide and flat (if that makes sense?) so there are quite a lot of windows on the front of our house, including two bow/bays. Our front door is to the porch and is actually a double set of french-style doors. I’m not sure if it will look a bit overwhelming to have all the windows AND a double front door AND the garage door all in the same shade?

All slightly complicated by the fact we have red hanging tiles across top half of most of the house and slightly mismatched bricks everywhere else 🙈

Sincere thanks to anyone who’s read this far and any advice (especially with pics!!) appreciated!

Bright yellow.

ApolloandDaphne · 28/03/2025 05:37

We have pebble grey windows and same for front and back door plus side door to garage. The roll up garage door is oak. Our house is also wide and flat and they look lovely against the off white render.they are a great colour. Our neighbours liked ours so much they asked if we minded if they chose the same windows in the sam colour. Theirs look lovely too.

Bright red.
Too much grey is so depressing.

ApolloandDaphne · 28/03/2025 05:39

If you would like photos I can take some later?

Pebble grey isn't actually grey. It's a soft gray green and looks mellow not depressing. I found a photo of my front door to let you see the colour.

Well, taste is subjective, but it does look a little drab to me. I was just suggesting a bright pop of colour to cheer the place up.

A bright yellow door would be lovely. A ray of sunshine 🌞

A pic would be really helpful, thank you! I love your front door 😍

I love the idea of a red or yellow front door but I think it would clash with the red/burgundy hanging tiles we already have unfortunately.

We have a lot of colour at the front of our house already with our front garden so I guess I’m worried about it looking too busy!

Yes, you're right. It would clash a bit with burgundy. How about something muted but still cheerful, like a pale pink, maybe? Or a very pale buttermilk yellow?

I came in to say pale pink. I’m not usually a huge fan of pink but there’s a house near to us with grey window frames and a pale pink door and it looks really good. Funnily enough they al have a beautifully planted, cottage style, front garden too.

Pale yellow is a lovely suggestion too Smile

theyreallyaredicks · 28/03/2025 09:22

a very pale blue would go with all of burgundy, red, and the pebble grey.

You have a really nice front door and I like the stone surround.

Looks like a lovely colour - can I ask what company you are using? We are looking for a similar colour, don't want grey but also not the brighter green we've come across. I had the most ridiculous conversation with a window company the other day when I asked for the Ral colour of one of their options.

theyreallyaredicks · 28/03/2025 09:30

We have very similar I have realised - ral 7038, similar to residence painswick colour. Again like people here I have friends who have gone for the same ones after seeing ours - they are very soft and can be styled as either heritage or modern. We have a ‘bright’ pale blue door - I’ll try and see the type of shade (I just hastily gave it two coats with something I found in B&Q so can’t remember name)

This kind of blue:

softlyfallsthesnow · 28/03/2025 09:58

I wouldn't go for a bright colour with a muted shade like that. It's slightly green so I'd go for a toning colour eg oak or even the same colour. Taste is subjective obviously but bright yellow or red would just jar to me.
Having spent months agonising over the colour of a garage door, I know how difficult choosing can be!

allmycats · 28/03/2025 10:08

I would like the same colour for the doors

ApolloandDaphne · 28/03/2025 11:03

It's hard to get the full width of the house on a picture. The front of the house is north facing so quite shady. The back is very sunny. You can see my garage door and back door side by side with a window. We don't have much else competing with the windows other than the garden and the colour really compliments the planting.

If anyone recognises my house and knows me 👋

MetaniumWhereAreYou · 28/03/2025 11:07

This is all so helpful, thank you everyone! I agree, it’s so hard to choose when it’s all going to be on such a big scale isn’t it (ie a massive slab like the garage door).

It’s the garage door I’m most unsure of tbh - not sure whether to go for that in pebble grey like the windows so it’s not too “in your face” then go for a fun colour (I love the pale pink idea! Or a dark green) for the porch doors in timber that we can repaint as and when we choose…

This kind of blue:

This is actually really similar to the colour of our front door atm (which we’re not planning on changing but the porch doors need to be).

I agree with you - love it!

We’re using The Window Centre in Shirley, Solihull. Have used them before for bifolds and we’ve been very happy with them to date if that helps! 😊
