Paint colour to go with turquoise sofa

Please can someone help with paint colours that would go with a light turquoise sofa. The room is north facing and the current paint colour is picking up grey/purple undertones making it look miserable. It's going to be a teenager gaming room and I want it to feel cosy and warm. Any suggestions?

Do you want to go dark or light? Would a navy colour suit the room?

GreyTeddy · 28/11/2024 10:36

I did consider navy but I'm leaning towards a lighter colour now.

I looked round a house once that had a turquoise sofa and the walls were a light yellow. Sounds awful but if you google it, and get the right shade of yellow, I think it can look good together.

Hi, in a north facing room I would suggest a paint colour with a pink undertone. I don't mean a feminine pink but an undertone in this hue will warm up the space without distorting in natural light.

Have you tried typing into Pinterest for ideas?

WildCherryBlossom · 28/11/2024 14:12

Could you show us the colour of the sofa?

Manchesterbythesea · 28/11/2024 14:39

We just painted dd’s room Cancun from B&Q own paint. Apparently it’s a Tik Tok phenomenon! It’s a gorgeous colour and would go with anything. It’s really warm and cosy.

The sofa sounds like it would fit well into a beachy theme - sea and Sandy colours

Shades of orange can work well with turquoise

We have a pinky terracotta with turquoise and it's a really nice contrast. Yellow or orange tones would work.

I wonder why Cancun is a Tiktok sensation - it looks like concrete!

WildCherryBlossom · 28/11/2024 17:21

Cancun is an unlikely paint colour to cause a sensation isn't it 😂

Very safe neutral. Quite close to F&B skimming stone which I used to have in a room with a duck egg blue sofa. I often used to think I should have gone with a slightly bolder colour.

BurntBroccoli · 28/11/2024 17:22

Orange!

Plump82 · 28/11/2024 17:43

I agree a burnt orange would look great, or mustard. I also think a dark berry/pink/fuscia would look fab.

Dug out my colour wheel - ones to the side are "complementary" colours and contrasting colours opposite such as orange.

The right kind of off white

With yellow undertones.

Like the Monet pictures above, we have faded terracotta walls with our turquoise sofa. Our wooden furniture is warm teak colour (mid century) except for a couple of mint pastel green side tables (Danish), and we have teak colour parquet flooring (cream and terracotta rugs).

BurntBroccoli · 28/11/2024 20:39

This is AI. I asked it for black and white striped walls and a turquoise sofa.

It would be lime green for me.

A much lighter shade of turquoise which will match your sofa, so walls are a white/turquoise but not pastel turquoise because that may be too dark.

So your room will remain nice and bright.

Hope that helps

It’s actually love once on.

artant · 28/11/2024 23:07

I’d go either orange as the complementary colour or a shade of green if you want a more matchy look. Either could work really well.

harikaaa · 29/11/2024 00:57

Honestly, the white is lovely. It provides a nice contrast to the turquoise.
