What colour to paint my bathroom (also vinyl floor suggestions please)

Morning! I HATE this bathroom - we can only repaint for now, so tiles need to stay. What colour would you paint the walls? The tiles have like a grey / light brown colour to them. There is a big window to the left which lets in lots of nice light.

We are getting new flooring also - if anyone can recommend a nice vinyl to go with a suggested paint colour?

Desperate bump 🙈

Maybe a soft olive green which would look ok with the tiles I think. Perhaps with some wicker or cane accessories?
How about a checked vinyl floor?
Or something like this?

Go all out cream/beige?

Thank you both 🙂 I was thinking either green or light biscuit as you’ve both recommended - I would do the whole room in it, and either colour should compliment the tiles.

Would either of these colours work? The second is B&Q Tijuana Matt - I do love green houseplants, so will add some colour in that way if I go with that colour. I’m so sorry, I am terrible with decor 😭

Green definitely.

Ineffable23 · 29/09/2024 19:00

What about a darker green? I know it's not traditional necessarily but it might work with the biscuity tiles.

This sort of colour?

I tend to feel going dramatic can be more of a transformation so sometimes makes the bits you keep feel more different at the same time.

I think either olive or a dark colour as suggested above.
Dark bathrooms often look really chic.
Could we see another pic as its hard to advise on one photo alone.

ArcticBells · 29/09/2024 19:03

@AnOldCynic is that your bathroom? It's a lovely cream. Do you know the colour?

Thislittlepiggywenttotheestateagents · 29/09/2024 19:04

@Ineffable23 thank you, but I don’t think I’m brave enough to go too bold 🙈

Would this flooring go with the green and the tiles?

@trickyex I will upload another pic in a moment, currently wallowing in the bath 😂

Hard to say if it would go with the tiles. Too cool toned?

That's fair enough! I have to say I have never yet regretted a bold painting decision I have made but I love colour!

I painted my bathroom a peacock-ish dark green-blue which goes perfectly with my white tiles but which would be totally non viable with neutral coloured ones like yours. I love the dark colouring so I am definitely biased!

Giggorata · 29/09/2024 19:13

I like the olive green suggestion and for the vinyl, I would look for something with a pattern that contained the same dark terra cotta colour as quarry tiles, as well as green and biscuit. Maybe one of vinyls that look like hallway tiles.

I have that flooring in my bathroom, but my walls are white tongue and groove plastic panels half way up and navy blue walls. It looks lovely

Thislittlepiggywenttotheestateagents · 29/09/2024 19:21

This is the bathroom with the light on.

I wish I was bolder with colour, but my house is pretty boring too 🙈

The floor is currently a pale grey square tile effect vinyl. It needs replacing so any pics of recommendations would be great. I cannot envision colours etc so a picture is really helpful for me 🙂

@articbells no, just a search on Pinterest.

cookiebee · 29/09/2024 19:32

How about something like this for the floor, still restful and subtle, but a little bit of strength in the design

@IntheVicinity thats a lovely green! Love the second one. Sorry to ask, what colour would you then pick for the flooring? Like a plain colour or a pattern?

@IntheVicinity oh wow, those tiles are beautiful, good choice

Thislittlepiggywenttotheestateagents · 29/09/2024 19:45

@IntheVicinity thank you! Did you happen to find that on a certain website or just a Google search?

I like the tiles. Please don't replace them with those ghastly metro tiles.

I think either something cool, like the tiles but a couple of shades darker or something rich like an olive or teal green. You really need to get some sample cards from somewhere like valspar or a paint card from little green, farrow and ball etc and look at it in the room in both natural and artificial light. Valspar and Johnstons will both do paints to ‘match’ more expensive makes. I would look at flooring first as it will cost more and potentially be down for longer. Then plants and accessories.

trickyex · 02/10/2024 09:27

I suggest choosing the flooring first and go from there for the wall colour, easier that way.
