How old is your kitchen?

Mine will be 25 this year. Not sure whether to throw it a party or trade it in for a younger model.

it was in the house when we got it and had already been in 5 years then. Everything still works, microwave, oven, hob (have replaced the dishwasher more than once. It is a nice neutral homely style but looking a bit tatty. I have been planning to update it since we moved in 20 years now. Never could be arsed, also am indecisive about what I want and always something else to spend money on.

you?

20 ish I think- we’ve only been here 10 but I’ve found some receipts for kitchen stuff dated to 2004. It’s a great kitchen- probably need to change the oven soon as it’s growling a bit but the cupboards and work surfaces are like new. About to move and the kitchen there is 20 years old too- I’m going to have it resprayed but it’s structurally fine.

8.5y. It’s Howdens because budget ran out on our renovation, but it’s still pristine. I’ve changed the tiles but appliances (Bosch) still going strong.

Jaxhog · 11/04/2024 18:57

Over 30 years. It was there when we moved in 32 years ago. When the 25 year guarantee ran out, I thought we'd update it then, but we didn't. Worktop needs replacing, and the hinges tightening up a bit, but it's otherwise fine.

Ours was from 1993. We are it’s 4th owners and it’s fallen to bits oven the past two year so it’s just been ripped out. So excited for new kitchen!

My kitchen is 22 years old and still going strong. It's really basic and old fashioned by today's standards.

Neverpostagain · 12/04/2024 19:05

4 months. Before that, 30 years

DiaryofWimpy · 12/04/2024 19:20

11 years old

EndofDaze · 12/04/2024 19:48

35 years old. Have been meaning to upgrade for the last 25 years but never got round to it. We plan to downsize for retirement so no point in doing it now - the next owners can inherit and fit exactly what they like.

One week in the process of a new one.

skippy67 · 14/04/2024 16:35

Ours is 2.5 years old. The previous one was 23! Still looked on tbf, but I felt it was time for a change. Hoping the current one lasts as long!

henlake7 · 12/05/2024 21:43

About 25 yrs and still works fine.

DrJonesIpresume · 12/05/2024 21:50

Ours had already celebrated its 30th birthday when we replaced it three years ago. Well overdue!

DramaAlpaca · 12/05/2024 22:04

Mine is 21 years old and does need an upgrade. We expected it to last four or five years, so it's actually done very well. It's getting quite shabby now though and is very dated, though the units are sound. I'm considering just changing the doors and handles because I like the layout still.

Digimoor · 12/05/2024 22:07

Over 20 years old - hand made sold wood - we will change it eventually as it's not practical for our needs - not enough worksurface and open shelves which I hate

Happyearlyretirement · 14/05/2024 23:54

Wanted to replace ours as it’s 20 years old, looked around and and the exact same style is on sale although painted and not oak. Painted ours new handles and tiles cost about £250.00 very happy. Might replace the work tops this year to finish off the re vamp.

15 months and I love it. But I only decided to do it when the old oven door fell off. I wouldn't bother if everything worked.
