Looking for a warm white for a north facing sitting room. Any ideas?

I bought a huge tub of dulux heritage edelweiss to do my sitting room. Description said it was warm but having tested it out the light in the room makes it look grey!
not a complete disaster as I will use it in my south facing bedroom.
I have read that I should have gone for a yellow based white. I do NOT want creamy looking walls just not cold white ones.
Has anyone had success finding a paint that does the job?
thanks🙂

Dulux Timeless

1829 Craig and Rose Adam Cream is perfect for this

Farrow and Ball White tie works well in our NE facing rooms, but we also have a deep warm yellow which is nice and cosy.

I absolutely love Victorian Lace. It works in every room in our house north / south facing. https://www.allenbraithwaite.co.uk/leyland-trade-victorian-lace-paint.html

Interesting/ it looks as if it is pulling grey?

Is Wimborne White too cream for you?

I had considered that one. I also thought about F&B all white. The tester pots are expensive🥴

Benjamin Moore Simply White. You can’t go wrong with this. It’s very pale. Not too cream (F&B Wimborne much more cream) and works super well north facing

It looks pretty but is too yellow for my liking 😕

It looks different in different lights. In our north facing kitchen it looks more pinky. In our south areas rooms more bluey-purple.

I have spent hours on what you are after. Benjamin Moore Simply White on the walls and Chantilly Lace on the ceilings and woodwork

F&B Pointing. Looks a bit cream on their website but if you look on Instagram you can get a feel of the real colour on walls.

Cotton balls Ben Moore
Or timeless - it’s simply a beautiful colour

Justcashnosweets · 22/10/2023 12:47

I used Dulux Timeless in my North facing sitting room. Its lovely.

BigButtons · 22/10/2023 14:30

Thanks everyone- will get some samples. I would LOVE to use Ben Moore but it is so expensive. The colours look amazing. Same with Farrow and ball- although I could have them made up in brewers using cheaper paint?

Timeless is getting a lot of love. Although some say it pulls grey in Reviews- which is confusing

I’m sorry to add I don’t rate Timeless at all. It doesn’t go on well and is grey ish to me!

I used jasmine white in a north facing room and it’s great, don’t choose matte either. It looked like a lovely clean bright white and not too yellow or grey.

I used the Dulux Light and Space range in Dessert Wind in my north facing living room and it worked really well. It looks like it'll be too yellow when you see it in the pot/on the swatch card but some magic happens when you paint it on the walls of a north facing room!

We have Dulux Timeless in our North facing kitchen and it feels warm.

I did Pointing in my east-facing living room - it ranges from mid-yellow to grey ish on different surfaces - so much that I pulled out the paint and repainted to make sure the right colour had gone on the mid-yellow. Paint tones are weird - you need to try them in your room and on every surface.

In our north facing rooms we’ve used dulux orchid white.

iIn our north facing living we’ve used a very pale almost touch of peach. No idea what it’s called. I know not what you are asking for but it generally gives the room some warmth and doesn’t feel stark/grey/cold which it used to.

Timeless looks A-mazing in our north facing kitchen but looked absolutely awful in our living room - we went for Wimbourne White (but it is very creamy, warm, but creamy).

Don’t bother with F&B All White - it’s just the same as Dulux trade brilliant white. And heads up - avoid the expense of trying to colour match those expensive whites as it never works!

ChocolateBiscuit2 · 24/10/2023 20:58

Another vote for Dulux timeless. Our house is quite dark in some rooms and it comes out a lovely creamy white, just like what I think you’re looking for. In some other rooms though it was grey. It just depends on the light so try a tester 😊

I used Pointing for my north facing lounge and it came out looking quite yellow.. ended up repainting it a few months later as I found it to magnolia!

Interesting, it doesn’t seem yellow in the photos at all! Almost wish I had a north facing room to test it on Grin I would expect it to look yellow/cream on an east facing room though.
