Suggestions for different wallpaper for a small downstairs loo

I would like to wall paper our downstairs loo to liven it up a bit and would like something a bit different. The only issue is that it doesn't have a window only a spot light and is very small so worried large bold paper would be a bit oppressive. Does anyone have any downstairs loo wallpaper inspiration to suggest / share?

I would only wallpaper the top half and then have a dado rail and the bottom half tiled or painted in a plain colour.

I wish I had a wall suitable to put this on...

Downstairs loo is a great place to go bold!

Modern or traditional?
Quirky or deadpan?
Personal or commercially available?

I have a friend who papered the whole room with sheet music and then varnished it. Another who pasted photos of her friends and family, overlapping like decoupage. Another who has a William Morris paper above waist height but copper walls and floor.

I love the cartoon parrots a pp has posted!

As you can see it’s a tiny loo, this is taken from the door. I actually love the Lusted goldfish paper @MothershipG Is the room too small for something like that? Also has an annoying ventaxia !

Go big and bold, it is a room you can go a bit mad in I think. I would put up a dado rail and paper above it. You can also get wallpaper varnish to put over the top to help protect it.

@JamMakingWannaBe does that artist do any other wallpapers?

Mine is very small with no window either but I went for this bold parrot paper. I love it and get loads of positive comments about it!

look at House of Hackney - spendy but brilliantly batshit and you only need one roll.

Timourous Beasties OR
Fornasetti

@pointypot
It's by Quentin Blake - the same artist that illustrated the Roald Dahl books. The cockatoo pattern comes in different colour schemes but he doesn't have many wallpaper designs.

OP, pop down to your local B&Q or B&M or The Range and see if there is any wallpaper you like. I agree with PP - painted tongue and groove and wallpaper above. Go brave and bold. Something dark green and gold would look amazing.

My entire bathroom is only fractionally bigger than your 'tiny' loo, OP!
Good hard or go home - commit to something fabulous that you love and that has punchy impact. The only way you could go wrong, in my opinion, is by going a bit too timid. It'll be a small space with or without wallpaper so make it small and wow.

Oh and I'd have a look on Osbourne and Little, Graham and Brown, Designers Guild, Matthew Williamson, Timorous Beasties, House of Hackney for inspiration

Here's mine @Tealfish

Those goldfish on green, really nice!
I do like your paint colour, we are looking for a blue for our bedroom.

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 17/10/2023 23:42

As far as darkness goes, you could add more lighting.

I love Dunelm wallpapers, they have some really nice and reasonably priced options.

We have this mural paper on our landing which is a small space, I love bold bright prints in smaller rooms.

We've gone for this for our tiny downstairs loo: lusthome.com/products/wild-thing-brights

It's basically a commitment to never moving house again 😂

Tealfish · 18/10/2023 18:31

I like this @luxuryinteriors Is below the dado rail tongue and groove or just painted wall? Looks great

Thanks @Tealfish

It's just painted below the dado rail.
