I’m very tempted to paint my front door pale pink, but not sure what DH will think.
Has anyone got pictures of theirs ? Does the colour go well with an autumnal wreath and Xmas wreath ?

Ours was also F&B Rangwali for a while (see attached pic from last Christmas, the best one I have), but as we're selling soon I decided to repaint it Little Greene Silt.

Silt was the colour I painted it originally, along with the windows. Our house is stone, but it has red brick detailing around the doors/some windows and tbh, although I love colour and don't usually play it safe, I wasn't sure that the pink I chose worked with the bricks.

And here it is now (LG Silt) which looks much better imho!

I just posted an example of red brick and it looks fab.

No- it looks awful. Too weak for the strength of the brick colour, and it clashes. Not good.

CrystalDeCanter · 12/10/2023 12:14

This is a pretty one. Obv not against red brick.

CrystalDeCanter · 12/10/2023 12:16

Oh knickers the picture didn't attach...

saveforthat · 12/10/2023 12:20

I think it has to be a strong pink. The very pale pinks look anemic.

NinNinJin · 12/10/2023 12:23

@SparkleHard so pretty!!!

That looks infinitely better.

OP hasn’t said anything about what
kind of house it is, which makes quite a difference. I know a rather grand Victorian house in a fairly fashionable part of London which has a bubble gum pink front door
and I just think it looks wrong on that kind of place.

SpicyMoth · 12/10/2023 13:42

Pink can work with that sort of red brick tone, but really you'd be better off with a stronger more saturated colour than a pale one.
Think more in terms of pinks you'd find in flowers or nature rather than anaemic Teletubby Custard perhaps! :)
Sakura pink perhaps?

This is mine. It’s not to everyone’s taste, but I really do love pink.

I’ve been debating painting it sage, but have got the whole of autumn and winter to decide!

@ItsSoStimulatingBeingYourHat , that’s a lovely pink. Which paint did you use?

ItsSoStimulatingBeingYourHat · 12/10/2023 13:57

@Dizzydeers It’s Frenchic Dusky Blush

DustyLee123 · 12/10/2023 14:10

@ItsSoStimulatingBeingYourHat that looks lovely !

I've also been looking for a pink colour for our door!
Luckily, to avoid controversy, we don't have red brick :)

I can't find a bold and bright enough. F&B have this new collection, I think Shallot might be a good choice...

@ItsSoStimulatingBeingYourHat it's so lovely with the magnolia!

I'm thinking of matching ours with our hydrangea...

We got a new front door 2 years ago and I really regret not getting it in pink! We rent and got a new door due to an insurance claim so felt under pressure to keep it similar to what is was before (very light grey), even though landlord had given us free range on colour! It would have looked amazing pink, really would have suited the house! Its a wooden door so not sure how hard it would be to paint? I've had to make do with pink window boxes and flowers!

Love it-especially with the magnolia.

I'd want to do the window as well!

There's a house in the New Town of Edinburgh that has a pale pink door and I think it looks lovely. It's a very controversial door though, because the owner kept painting it and neighbours kept objecting that the colour wasn't in keeping with the conservation status of the area. People always love a moan! My personal favourite was when it was sea green: https://metro.co.uk/2023/07/11/edinburgh-woman-ordered-to-repaint-pink-front-door-in-new-complaint-19103131/

I love the brighter pink and the more cooled tone (lilac) door! That is gorgeous IMO!

Now I want a pink door!😂

Never considered it until this thread... But now... 😂😍😍

This is ours. It’s Sulking Room Pink by Farrow and Ball. The paint we used is this. DH painted it and said it was really good paint.

When we bought the house the original white door had been painted dark blue, very badly, and needed repainting. I wanted pink, it took a year to win DH over.

Go on Pinterest and search Painted pink front door - there’s loads on there.

I went down the pale pink (Lick pink 04) door route on my red brick Vic terrace. Something to consider is, if you live on a busy road it will get dirty very quickly from the exhaust fumes. Also, as mentioned above it doesn't go great with the red brick, but then red brick does vary a lot dependant upon age/location. Ah well, lesson learnt.
