Things that make your house a home

What are the items that make your house a comforting home? (I mean anything from nice cushions to cosy kitchenware etc)
Feel free to share pics of your favourite items too, I love looking into other people’s houses😛
For me it’s a lot of things as I love home decor but if I had to make a small list I’d say:

• pretty textiles with nice prints (rugs, cushions, bed linen etc)
• Travel souvenirs
• cute mugs and kitchen equipment in general
• candles

Our books. Apparently our house has a 'second hand bookshop vibe'. 🤣.
Wouldn't be home without them.

Lighting. Multiple sources, table lamps ,uplighters, all on dimmer switches. Also, scents. Diptyque Baies is my favourite but loving Dunelm Pumpkin Patch at the moment, so affordable too.

Books, plants, a cat, teapot on the kitchen table, mirror balls, glass crystals reflecting rainbows in the sunlight, candles, jam jars and old tins being reused, lamps.

And of course the cats 😹

The people in it. I know that’s probably not the answer you’re looking for.

Books, original art and pottery, antique furniture, lamps, Persian rugs, floorboards, sash windows.

Real plants, books, pictures, table lamps. I have friends without any of these, the rooms look souless, like a showroom.

My cushion covers, rugs, travel souveniers , pretty cozy bed covers and lamp shades.

Books, art, log burner, sheepskin rugs in front of the fire and in the main bedroom,

DS's chess set.

Good light.

For me, it's textures. Real wood furniture, fluffy rugs and throws, textured curtains and cushions. Lots of plants and lamps. I love cosy candles flickering away.

Lots of photos, lots of art, lovely colours in the cushions and furniture. Low soft lighting. The cats. Candles.

Ah yes, BOOKS, of course!!!

@Nannyfannybanny I know what you mean. I am always disappointed when I go into someone’s home and I don’t see objects that talk about their lives and personality. Can’t stand minimal/beige/grey type of homes

Proper reading lights, books and paintings.

I love nice lighting, warm fairy lights, candles, soft lamps.
I also have fluffy blankets folded up on the sofa for people to wrap up in as needed.

Houseplants too. My perfume collection on top of my bedroom drawers. DD’s toys in the living room. Nice wall art. Family photos.

Plants, books, wooden floors, cats, log burner, candles, throws, cushions, photos, proper art (not ikea prints).

Do cats and candles go together? Don’t have a cat yet but I fear I might not be able to light candles again when I get one!

What else does anyone really need?

A pet if possible, music playing, a neatly hung tea towel, flowers, kitchen "projects" like herbs drying, bread dough proving, open windows

Some bits and pieces that belonged to my parents and grandparents -makes me feel warm inside

Green leather chesterfield, crochet cushions and blankies, Aga, wood burner, chickens 💕
