Help me to pick a Ruggable rug

Buying one in the biggest size to (finally!) cover a horribly scratched engineered wood floor in our sitting room.

Our walls are white, with various bits of furniture that are primarily oak with a bit of muted gold. Sofa is "raspberry rhondite" (a dark dusky pink https://twitter.com/the_lounge_co/status/1437846219158609923), lamps hanging over the sofa are gold and dark green, prints are largely black/white typography or photography.

Importantly, house is mid-century and open plan, and I try to honour that where I can - we've lived in Victorian cottages before and our furniture from there looks fundamentally ridiculous in this much more linear space.

My shortlist is:
https://ruggable.co.uk/products/jonathan-adler-inkdrop-black-ivory-rug?size=150x215

https://ruggable.co.uk/products/morris-and-co-blackthorn-ivory-rug?size=150x215

https://ruggable.co.uk/products/jonathan-adler-op-art-teal-rug?size=150x215

I can imagine all of them working - the Inkdrop picks up the monochrome prints, the Morris and co would probably need to be hoovered least and it picks up the pink in the sofa (but is probably the least in keeping with the house's general style) and we both like the Op Art rug, but there's a fair bit of blue in it that isn't anywhere else in the room and I wouldn't have otherwise introduced it - I'd be picking up the green in the lamps if I was looking for another colour.

I've had all three in my basket for weeks now, and need to get on with it. DH is at the point where he never wants to have another rug-themed conversation with me. HELP ME PLEASE.

Your room sounds lovely OP, my favourite is the third link you posted. The colours work really nice together.

NellyBarney · 27/08/2023 00:11

Yes, also think nr 3. Why do you consider Morris&Co if you think your old furniture don't fit your bew house - Morris & Co are the epitome of Victoriana.

woollymammal · 27/08/2023 00:23

I’d be put off by the reviews that mention the texture & feel.

Waferbiscuit · 27/08/2023 00:46

Morris will prob match your furniture best but my preference is for the first option. Not 3 - looks like it belongs in a kids bedroom, but that's just me.

Keepingthingsinteresting · 27/08/2023 01:03

the last one I think, or what about the Keith harring freestyle, the Apfel simian/ summer of love both in charcoal, Adler Pompidou or Morris &co bird and pomegranate.

I’ve recently washed mine for the first time & so happy. I recommend the cushioned pad though.

Keepingthingsinteresting · 27/08/2023 01:04

Oh and a discount if you buy this weekend!

wineschmine · 27/08/2023 01:31

I think the first one.

Love morris and co but it wouldn't go with your house.

The third one gives me a sore head due to the mismatching design.

Dotcheck · 27/08/2023 02:00

Second.

stopiwanttogetofff · 27/08/2023 02:21

Second definitely

StuckintheUSA · 27/08/2023 04:15

I don't know if the company has changed the way they make the rugs, but I had to throw mine away after a few months. Every time I separated the rug from the black backing, there was a ton of tiny black particles on everything. And the rug didn't wash as well as I hoped. It looked really grey and dingy after a few washes. And the corners kept on crinkling up, so the rug wouldn't lay flat on the floor.

I really wanted to love my Ruggable rug, as I think it's a great concept, but I'd never buy one again.

moose62 · 27/08/2023 06:38

I would go for no 2. The other two are two loud and i think would irritate me.
I have a rugable rug and if you hoover near the edges it stretches the rug and then won't lie flat. I use a broom around the edges just ti sweep it. Apart from that I have not had any problems with it!

Mummyoflittledragon · 27/08/2023 08:24

The third one. It will bring warmth and depth into the room.

Kfjsjdbd · 27/08/2023 08:30

We have the ink drop one and I love it. It washes really well and so far my disgusting children haven’t managed to make it look anything less than perfect.

PlayedCatsEyeMarbles · 27/08/2023 08:38

Prefer the more muted morris one myself.

Baconisdelicious · 27/08/2023 08:48

Third one brings out my vertigo. There are people out there who would struggle with that one, OP!

First one is very mid-century. I like number 2.

EatYourVegetables · 27/08/2023 08:48

The third one is migraine inducing; it looks similar to visual aura. If you get it please don’t let anyone suffering from migraines visit as they actually might vomit on it.

Jennalong · 27/08/2023 09:42

Not the 3rd one.

Tenegrief · 27/08/2023 09:43

I love the first rug - it sounds like it would really fit the look of your room too. Definitely number 1!

MrsMarzetti · 27/08/2023 09:59

Morris and co, the other 2 would make my eyes go funny especially the last one.

Newusernaming · 27/08/2023 10:36

No. 1. It is fresh, modern. If you feel bolder, can go with blue or the other colour. They should go well with pink sofa.

I don't like the other two rugs.

Doggymummar · 27/08/2023 10:40

It's you who is going to have to choose can you get them on approval? If so order all three and return the ones that don't work.

TLDRfuckers · 27/08/2023 10:47

Not number 3 makes me feel dizzy just looking at it.

the middle one will go with your sofa and bonus not needing to vacuum as much

the first is okay but nothing special

Cyclingmug · 27/08/2023 11:03

No 2 definitely. First one is migraine inducing and as for the 3rd one.....

mauvish · 27/08/2023 12:09

Agree with others, no. 3 would give me vertigo/migraine!

I like no. 2 best as a picture on a screen, but if you are going for a mid 20th century aesthetic, then no 1 all the way.

Newusernaming · 27/08/2023 12:17

I looked again no. 2 is nice too.
I think that can work and you can creare a mid century eclectic vibe.

I like rust and blue in no.1
