Help me showcase some fav quotes, on the wall

Looking for suggestions on displaying some fav quotes

Thinking of framed prints, decals, murals..
Anything else?

Have spent a fair bit trying to find something online to do this.
Lots on Etsy, I know. But, thats part of the problem.

Any tried and tested recommendations?

Thank you

PS:
My fav quote, that I am hoping to display on a full wall Smile
“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style.”

They are very 90s ....

You’re probably going to wish you’d let this thread die op. Quotes on walls are not liked on mumsnet.

Actually that might work

We like the Arts & Crafts Movement which often had 'mottoes' carved into furniture or hammered into the surface of the copper frames of mirrors/art. I guess these were the motivational slogans/quotes of their day.

Back in the very early 2000s I stencilled such a motto (in Latin 🙄) on the wall facing the front door in our fairly large hallway. It was something quite tongue in cheek (too outing to mention here) and done partly in jest.

We sold that house ages ago but I still think the slogan is appropriate to us, so rather than apply it to the wall I have recently painted a small piece of art that incorporates it. This sits on the kitchen mantel shelf and makes me smile every time I look at it and think most visitors to our current house wouldn't have a clue what it means!

But tbh I couldn't give a 💩 what anyone else thinks.

We have a wall in our house that is divided by exposed beams and have the central portion painted in blackboard paint. We’ve had lots of visitors (adults and kid)draw or write on it, we’ve put silly messages or quotes/lyrics that have a meaning at that point in time. It gets painted over every now and then so you can start afresh.

A modern embroidery would look nice? You could probably comission someone on Etsy or have a go yourself if you are crafty

EmmaEmerald · 15/06/2023 11:55

I wanted to do this too but really would only do it if I had a study or some room that others wouldn't see.

I really like the poem "Desiderata" and next to that I'd quote the 1975

"and then you took a picture of your salad
and put it on the
internet".

A framed sampler might work

ChinUpChestOut · 15/06/2023 15:05

DBro once gave me some good advice which I think doubles up as an inspirational quote:

"When you're in a hole, don't dig it deeper"

But I'm guessing this is not the kind of quote you want........😆

I think that's great advice.

This is said gently and somewhat in jest…

I'll take one decal in an overly fussy font please! Preferably one that will permanently affix to the wall and be absolutely impossible to ever remove. Can't wait to get that up in the lounge 😁

PuffinsRocks · 15/06/2023 15:45

A framed print would look so much better and the best part is, you could take it with you if you move or find it a new home on another wall if your decor/furniture changed.

Hmmm... never realised the MN sentiment that its not cool to put quotes on the wall..! It won't influence what I do though!

@EmmaEmerald I am with you on where I will put the frame, mostly in my study, certainly not for visitors to comment!

Those stickers are impossible to get off a wall. Impossible!

Get a big framed picture instead.

Also it's a nice quote, I like it!

CallistaFlockfart · 14/08/2023 12:46

I wouldn't paint 'quotes' or use stickers on the wall. Too 'semi permanent'.
Maybe hang a print with the quotes on the wall instead. What you if suddenly decide you don't like it? It will be a faff to remove.
Not a fan of quotes on the wall anyway.

MNetcurtains · 14/08/2023 12:48
