What colour would you paint this front door?

I have recently moved house, and need to do a bit of exterior upkeep. The front door of my house is dark brown hardwood, which I am not superkeen on, but I am not sure where to start with a change of colour, since the window are white pvc, the wooden curly frame thing round the door is stained wood (mid orangey brown - should this be painted to match door, or possibly painted black to make it invisible?), plus neutral grey coloured bricks with terracotta brick details around window.

Thoughts on this one? Thanks all.

I'd go green, what a gorgeous house.

Sage green type colour, or pink

Pashy · 19/04/2023 21:25

Raspberry pink

Treasureboxkey · 19/04/2023 21:26

Sage green or duck egg

RosaSkye · 19/04/2023 21:26

I think I’d do a muted indigo blue.

Amazing house!

AuContraire · 19/04/2023 21:26

I'd paint it the same colour as the bricks around the windows and the red roof tiles along the top.

I love wooden front doors.

OMG I've just fallen in love big time! Your new home is absolutely stunning. I hope your happy in your new home and big congrats on what looks like a dream home. Oh please go for a darker shade of green for the front door. It'll set it off nicely! Absolutely gobsmacked, it's beautiful!

What a beautiful house. I would have green or pink or light blue.

scrivette · 19/04/2023 21:32

I think I would leave the wood as it is though unless it's in bad condition.

LaylaLjungberg · 19/04/2023 21:33

Pale pink

You can paint the upvc windows, just use an appropriate undercoat. I'd do the same colour for the windows and door, and like @RosaSkye go for blue rather than green but that's mainly because I think green is so very popular for outside woodwork these days on country properties and I'd want to be different. Agree though that a sage green would be a very lovely classic look so it really depends what you like. I'd also paint the curvy wood but no idea what colour, possibly blue but maybe not quite the same one. Or maybe paint the windows and curvy bit the same blue and have the door different, maybe have that a lighter stained wood?

I am currently having a similar dilemma about my much less pretty semi, can you tell?

Starseeking · 19/04/2023 21:44

My first thought was green. It will really lift the house.

Meandfour · 19/04/2023 21:45

Sage green, cream or get an oak one.

What a stunning home!

Margery80 · 19/04/2023 21:54

Thanks everyone for your suggestions - really helpful, and also thank you for all the compliments on the house - I'm a lucky gal! x

Can we please have a tour of the inside. It's a stunning looking house.

I'd go for a pale colour that tones in with the stone work, maybe a green/grey

MagiMagic · 19/04/2023 21:58

Is the door wood? If so can you strip it? Wood would look really lovely.

It's not as nice on the inside!!

It's a bit of an unusual layout. The front bit is a 1940s cottage and the back bit was added in 1998. There is absolutely loads of stained pine (v 80s), which i am itching to tone right down!
