What colour would you paint this front door?

I have recently moved house, and need to do a bit of exterior upkeep. The front door of my house is dark brown hardwood, which I am not superkeen on, but I am not sure where to start with a change of colour, since the window are white pvc, the wooden curly frame thing round the door is stained wood (mid orangey brown - should this be painted to match door, or possibly painted black to make it invisible?), plus neutral grey coloured bricks with terracotta brick details around window.

Thoughts on this one? Thanks all.

What colour would you paint this front door?

I was also going to suggest sage green, however when I started to look at the curvy bit, I thought maybe matching it with the roof tiles. Then I started to look at the roof tiles and can see lots of lovely colours in them. If it shows the same in real life then I'd pick a colour from those, I can see various lilacs and greens.

Oh and please change those outside lights unless you intend to have horse and coach arriving at your door.

id paint the barge boards to match.

I'd paint the curvy bit white and whatever you fancy for the door, most colours would look good on that house it is fab!

I would also say a sage/olive green - and I’d be doing the windows and “curly” frame too.

You can’t scrimp on this. Have a look at Little Greene Paint Co. Their ASP (all surface primer) comes in all their shades. And their Tom’s Oil paint is great as an exterior topcoat. I’ve used it outside and also use it on my kitchen cabinets as it’s pretty tough.

If you see a colour elsewhere that you like, you should be able to track down the RAL code for it (all colours in production generally have a RAL code). Little Greene will mix their various topcoats in RAL codes outside of their normal range. You can’t request this online, you need to call or email them with your request. They don’t do this with their primer paint, but their team will recommend a suitable colour from their own range - it’s not a problem, I’ve done this a few times with “off the colour chart” projects.

It’s a lovely looking frontage, I’d definitely wanting it to all match, so wouldn’t be leaving the windows white if you do paint the door etc.

The issue with painting the windows is that the little panes within the window are within the panes of double glazing glass. So only the outer frame iyswim is paintable.😕

I think pretty much any colour would work and sage green would be a nice safe choice. That said I'd be tempted to be more bold and complement the orange tones on the roof and around the windows with a peachy coral

What an odd comment! I think the lights are lovely. Beautiful house OP 😍

Sage green or mid/dark grey.

It's an absolutely stunning frontage, I love it. The roof is an essential part of the character so I'd be picking a colour that works in that context - something on the greyish side of blue. The door example someone posted is beautiful. Bear in mind that in that picture, the door is in sunlight, whereas your door is in shadow, so anything you paint is likely to look a shade or two darker anyway.

Please please show us more photos when you are ready - or will you be doing an Instagram home renovation account? I love those......so much inspiration.
