Redecorated living room, have a small table in the corner but it needs a thing on it.

needs to be quite big… 70cm? Maybe a bit bigger. Also brass/gold at a push oak. Or Navy.

Was thinking a storm lantern or naice vase thing? Had looked at lamps but already have 2 floor lamps that are quite bold.

Any ideas/links would be appreciated

If you can't find what you are looking for, paper mache and spray paint are your friend - my friend has just created a fake 'vase' to go with her newly decorated lounge because she wasn't finding anything big enough.

Have a look at Rowen Homes

Crying out for a stunt pineapple

I had thought about spraying something suitable… although paper mache might be a bit beyond me… I’ve not done anything like that in 30 years! 😂

Tk maxx is usually worth a look for this kind of thing. Not big enough but if you go in store there's usually more of this stuff

Would any of these work?
Option 1
Option 2
Option 3
Option 4
Option 5
Option 6
Option 7
Option 8 (you could get crafty with some masking tape and gold/brassy colour paint to go over the grey paint in this lamp)

What kind of thing do you love @Chocbuttonsandredwine ? I'd identify that/those then look for same in brass/gold.

For example, we're into butterflies and birds (collect vintage framed taxidermy ones), art nouveau and aesthetic movement/Oriental stuff so these are always a starting point when looking for something - whether to fill a gap or be a statement piece.

It could be as general as a style or something more specific.

As well as Homesense/TK Maxx, ebay is always a good place to search although again it helps if you have sn idea of what you want!

We found a fantastic large gold monkey lamp in Homesense for £50. Replaced the cheap looking shade with one from Pooky and it looks a million times nicer!

Also, picked up an original bronze Art Nouveau plaque with flowing-haired maiden from The Saleroom for a few £££. Displayed on an inexpensive easel stand from TK Maxx.

No pic of the monkey but I've attached one of the plaque/easel.

Nipped to the The Range tonight while DS was at football and bought ALL the things… for about £50. Ridiculous

intention was to try them all and figure which I liked best and return the rest… but I can’t decide, and don’t hate all of them together. The style of the room is kinda 1930’s opulent granny. It’s all velvet, navy and burnt orange with gold…

hmmm not sure

Yeah that doesn’t work. It’s too much,

honestly I’d keep the cat candle holder thing only on that table. Less is more. You can put a small cube of flowers beside it, or cactus/succulent.

the rest of the stuff you can dot elsewhere. Except the big gold planter, I’d buy a yukka or an aspidistra to put in it, and put it on the floor someplace.

the hurricane lamp can be used outside. It’s not great and the hammered gold slim vase is awful .

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 28/02/2023 08:09

The space just looks really empty without anything. And the cat head is dwarfed in the space.

Agree re vase.

Oh, and I'd return anything that you're really not keen on or 100% sure that you actually like. No point in spending money on something that you will look at for the next few years and think "What was I thinking of!" 😊

Chocbuttonsandredwine · 28/02/2023 10:01

Thanks that’s super helpful.

I thought exactly the same re cat head. Loves it but looks ridiculous with candle coming out of its head 😂
