Help me find the perfect off white

Looking for the perfect off white for our bedroom. It's dual aspect North/West facing, small windows so quite a dark room.

I want a vintage looking off white / cream that will stand out against the white woodwork. Don't want any grey tones, there has to be some warmth.

I've tested Dulux Timeless - nice, but looks too white. I can see that it's creamier than PBW, but there's not quite enough of a difference.
Natural calico - too yellow/dark
Nutmeg white - too pink/dark
Summer linen - too beige

So something with just a bit more oomph than timeless. Doesn't have to be dulux

I painted some of my rooms slaked lime by Little Greene. I really like it.

Discoh · 13/11/2022 19:06

Thank you. I've read that slaked lime has grey undertones - do you find that? As don't want any grey, that's what we inherited and are covering

Desert Wind (Dulux light and Space)

or Jasmin Shimmer (although it's a bit pink)

TheOnlyAletheia · 13/11/2022 19:37

Crown sail white

toenails · 13/11/2022 21:37

I saw something stylish in a warm white online recently and it was Valspar Seven Sisters.

Discoh · 13/11/2022 22:21

Thanks. I've got A LOT of valspar chips so I'll check whether I have that one.

Has anybody used Jasmine white in a dark room?

I have Jasmine White in my north-facing kitchen diner area. It's a creamy white with a yellowish tone, definitely shows up against the white woodwork. To me it's soft and light and never feels cold. I don't know if it's very different from Timeless though.

I had Natural Calico before and hated it. It always made me feel gloomy.

LynetteScavo · 14/11/2022 18:31

Our Jasmine white is in our living room- it's large but not a particularly light. It's definitely got a pink tinge which I didn't pick up on from the tester pot. DH was very dubious as we were paining, but I was very pleasantly surprised. It's warm, and there's a definite contrast with the white woodwork.

Startuplife · 14/11/2022 18:40

I’m having a nightmare with this at the moment. We started off with Timeless and agree it’s too white. It just looks a bit grubby compared to the ceiling and not different enough.
I have summer linen in my back bedroom but in our house it’s very yellow. I love Egyptian Cotton but we already have it in two rooms.
In a fit of madness I went and bought Farrow and Ball Ammonite without realising it’s very very grey which is exactly what I don’t want.
Our carpet is being fitted next week and I’m very aware I’m running out of time!

Discoh · 14/11/2022 18:43

It's so hard isn't it! I'll try jasmine white next and see what that's like.

Have you tried F&B cornforth white? May be a bit darker than what you’re wanting but really nice colour.

SilentNike · 14/11/2022 18:47

www.farrow-ball.com/paint-colours/wimborne-white

This is my go-to white.

KeepingKeepingOn · 14/11/2022 18:48

White Lead by Little Greene? I like Slaked Lime as well and wouldn’t say it has grey in it, but have gone for WL for my new off-white windows.

xJ0y · 14/11/2022 18:50

parchment

Waitingtomove · 14/11/2022 19:11

My house is painted in F&b shadow white. I tried 9 different colours and this (to me) was the perfect one.
It's the perfect off white neutral

17to35 · 14/11/2022 19:33

Lighter than shadow white- schoolhouse white. Great in a north facing room. Enough contrast with pbw.

more a mineral hue than a grey.

Dox9 · 16/11/2022 21:48

Dulux subtle fossil. I tried about 20 samples in our northfacing living room before settling on this. Off white but no blue, green or overly yellow undertone.

Jellybean23 · 16/11/2022 21:49

If they still make it, Dulux Barley White is lovely ,a warm off white which contrasts with brilliant white. Looks great on walls and ceiling with white paintwork and coving to contrast.

Portland Stone Pale? There seem to be 100s of Portland Stones but this looks, well, pale and creamy.

We used Benjamin Miller Collector’s Item, which is a rich creamy white with pink tones, in our large, light north-facing kitchen. When you look at it it appears white, but against white it looks warm & creamy. I love it!

bravotango · 16/11/2022 21:57

Agree with PP - Wimborne white is great

ilkleymoorbartat · 16/11/2022 21:58

Or paint and paper library canvas

minipie · 17/11/2022 14:51

Another vote for

Crown Sail White - similar to Jasmine White but a bit warmer, I find Jasmine White a bit too lemony

Wimborne White and Pointing - both creamy whites similar to Sail White but a little bit more complex. Pointing has slightly more grey in, Wimborne more cream.

I love Shirting by Little Greene but I think it will be too white for you

I also like the Slate range from Paint & Paper Library though these colours are slightly more “grubby” than the ones above iyswim - more of a vintage look, but less bright.

I would describe Slaked Lime as a pale stone colour more than a white.

Discoh · 17/11/2022 16:31

Thanks for all the suggestions, lots to look at!
