What artwork do people have in their homes? I have an original piece by a local painter of flowers that I love.

Then from Etsy I have this: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/674053777/gold-on-blue-japanese-ocean-wall-art?ref=share_v4_lx

Then this from Nkuku
www.sue-parkinson.com/gifts-c223/under-100-c240/arna-wire-wall-art-p33172

Besides this I have a world map and photos etc but the above I absolutely love.

What artwork do you have in your home that really makes you happy?

A painting of Three Cliffs Bay, a street map of Delhi, a Lowry print

Chakraleaf · 31/08/2022 12:46

Just stuff the kids have drawn!

DelilahBucket · 31/08/2022 12:50

We have a few cheap pictures from Dunelm and the like, as well as photos, but we have a piece by an artist called Danny Abraham's and we're saving up for another.

MintJulia · 31/08/2022 12:54

We have a very good local art society and I buy sometimes at their annual exhibition.

I have a large early watercolour by a member of the RA but most of the rest are amateur originals. Some of them are stunning. Plus a collection of sailing/harbour themed small water colours that cover the wall of my office.

A small bronze of a nuthatch on a tree trunk that I bought when I was feeling flush (pre-dcs).

And a Chagall print in the kitchen that my dm hated. 😀

This which I love but I really want This I love Craig Alan’s stuff - I saw the Big Ben one in Brighton about 10 years ago, could have spent hours staring at it and have regretted not buying it ever since!

I also have the below zebra which is a paint by numbers that my best friend’s 8 and 10 year old sons did for me and it makes me happy every time I look at it

And the Maasai one is a painting from Kenya from when I went on a solo safari and met (and ate and camped with) some Maasai warriors!

We also have a large mural wall of a view of London over Tower Bridge.

We also have a few odd ‘trinkets’, sculptures and other weird things that I have accumulated over years, including a giraffe made from flip flops, a coffee table made from a giant domino and a really big rubber duck!

My house doesn’t look that weird I promise - although this is very outing!

A print by Tracey Emin

HarrietSchulenberg · 31/08/2022 20:33

In the living and dining rooms; a large, mass produced pattern print canvas, some small original artworks by artists and illustrators who I love, framed pics of the children when they were younger (taken by ex-H, who has quite a talent), framed self portrait pic taken by ds3 who has a similar talent, and an abstract print of a local map.
In the hall, some old map prints and some of my own things (not good but I like them), and an even more eclectic mix of framed cards and originals up the stairs.
Landing has kids' old finger paintings in big, bright Ikea frames.
Visitors are certainly never short of something to look at here!

scrivette · 31/08/2022 20:40

Jack Vettriano prints, two huge Jack Vettriano style prints in the dining room, an original painting of the Lake District, a couple of large cross stitches by a late family member and loads of family photos in frames.

I've got mainly my own paintings and photographs. I have a massive old London Underground advert art print which I love. I also have a wall of bird themed pictures, just random pictures i like but all with birds. I mainly got those from charity shops, or just framed cards I liked. And a few pieces of art friends made. And some feminist art. Oh and some 'vagina bunting' hangs above my bed.

Redqueenheart · 31/08/2022 21:24

Small-ish paintings and drawings from online gallery SaatchiArt. Originals & prints. For example www.saatchiart.com/fabiennejacquet who is a feminist artist as I try to support female artists. Also some vintage film posters and fashion magazines covers.

We have a bit of a mix. DH’s pre-me framed prints of Matisse and Schiele, a couple of other framed prints (one of a Caravaggio we saw in a church in Italy), a print of Goya, a marketing piece by DH’s grandfather, various cute cards framed, some oil paintings that I painted and a couple of my dog/s and of course of my lovely little DD.

NeedToKnow101 · 31/08/2022 21:38

@Dotcheck 🤣🤣🤣 well-spotted!

Facecream · 31/08/2022 21:40

We have a random mix of things we have acquired over the years.
Things like:

  • green man print
  • charcoal rubbing of a knight…no idea where from but my parents inherited it and mum hated it so I rescued it!
  • print of a painting by Scottish artist Douglas Roulston depicting Corryvreckan
  • an Escher print
  • a print of a bear
  • a print of The Lady of Shalott
  • Discworld print (Granny’s Cottage)
  • map of the World of the Witcher
  • Hobbit map
And loads more. We don’t have a theme…if we like it, we stick it on the wall.

DD1s art work
Deborah Azzopardi prints
Family photos

Furries · 06/09/2022 01:52

Found a photo of my cottage from around 60 years ago, so have that framed on the wall. Plus a couple of frames with old photos of buildings in my village.

And a couple of canvases of my awesome cats. From photos I took years ago. Everyone thinks they were taken professionally, but they were just snapped on my camera. I love them (the photos and the cats!)

Hambledy · 06/09/2022 01:59

I've got two "art" photos - one I inherited: it's by a well known British photographer. The other was a gift from a woman I did some work for years ago, shortly after she won a prize for it.

I also have paintings that friends and my ex mil have done.

And a cracking collection of fridge magnets.

Cheeseandlove · 16/11/2022 09:48

I have several Mucha prints (my absolute fave), lots of DDs artwork, some other nature themed artworks (green man, flowers, hare), and the ones in the pic from Etsy (their placement is a bit odd but they’re currently covering massive holes in the wall).

This is our (unfinished) gallery wall. The big main one is from ikea. as is the leaf print. The two little ones are greetings cards I found in Tesco. The scribble lady is from b&m that we've added more scribbles too, and the Lovers tarot card is from etsy!

We have so much I don't know where to start! Ours are mostly vintage prints collected over the years but amongst these are a few original pieces including a few I've done myself.

We have a massive gallery wall of Art Nouveau repro advertising posters including a few that are fairly hard to find. Also some Waterhouse, Rossetti and Burne Jones prints in ornate vintage frames. Then another collection of 40+ mainly vintage bird prints/original paintings - these are a mix of carboot/ebay finds with a few from Homesense mixed in. Also we have lots of vintage framed taxidermy butterflies, botanical prints and historical prints of London (including an unusual circular one) as well as more contemporary stuff from Vanilla Fly and Punkhaus. We have a few wall plates (Anthropologie) and plates/chargers from the Arts and Crafts Movement too. And in our bedroom a display of Liberty print pinwheels.

I've got some maps from Marvellous Maps. Funny place names in the UK, and the Folklore and Superstition map. I have many framed black and white photos of churches I've taken, a couple of oil paintings done by myself, and the iconic Van Gogh Tardis on a Starry Night, but I've a feeling it's not the original 🤗
