What artwork do people have in their homes? I have an original piece by a local painter of flowers that I love.

Then from Etsy I have this: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/674053777/gold-on-blue-japanese-ocean-wall-art?ref=share_v4_lx

Then this from Nkuku

Besides this I have a world map and photos etc but the above I absolutely love.

What artwork do you have in your home that really makes you happy?

Some vintage travel posters.
Two Emil Nolde landscape prints.
Art by the DCs through the years.

In our kitchen we have a collection of travel posters from Finland but elsewhere we prefer to buy reasonably priced original art rather than mass produced reproductions.

We have an original Richard Whadcock in our living room and some of the kids' artwork.

Lots of photos up the stairs and a cheap late 19th century still life in our bedroom which we mainly bought for the amazing frame.

We have about 200 things on our walls. Everything means something...I can remember where and why we bought it.

We have lots of art including originals, limited edition signed prints and a couple of open editions bought from museums.

We have more than we can reasonably display at once so we move it around and sometimes store something for a while and then bring it out later in a different room so it feels fresh.

It's quite an eclectic mix, there's some art nouveau and art deco, contemporary folk art, photography, an original watercolour by a contemporary Japanese artist, glass, ceramic, felt, a pencil drawing of our pet and a canvas print of a photo taken on holiday.

Buy art that you love and where possible buy direct from artists or independent galleries. Original art and craft doesn't have to be expensive we have items that have cost less than a takeaway for two.

Lots – I love to look for small galleries or individuals selling their work when I go on holidays – but probably my favourite is a painting that when I saw it genuinely made my heart flip up and over. It was in a cafe-gallery in south India. I still get a bit of that feeling every time I look at it, ten years after bringing it home.

As well as originals I have posters from exhibitions and plays etc I've been to and loved and want to remember, and TONS of postcards, birthday cards etc, both from galleries and those that people have sent or given me. I have a bit of a postcard habit Grin and have to cycle them so that they all get a go at being displayed. My taste and displays are pretty eclectic – at the mo in my home office I have among others a card of a David Hockey dachshund, a Cecil Beaton fashion shot, Rembrandt's Girl at a Window and a vintage postcard of a drawing of a wren, along with cards from my recent birthday.

The things on my walls all mean something to me and make me happy when I look at them.
