What colour with purple for spare bedroom/office?

I have purple bedding in the spare bedroom, we havnt decorated it since moving in yet. It's also used as my office (wfh permenantly) so I want the walls a fairly light/bright colour. Don't really want purple walls and I think grey would depress me being in there all day. We like bright colours and I like the idea of a deep teal but don't think it goes with purple really, any other colours that would? Or just suck it up and buy new bedding?

You're all slaves!

This is a strange comment. Slaves to what? In the grand scheme of things of course it doesn't matter if the bedding doesn't match the wallpaper, but if you have the money for some home decor then things that don't really matter can be done the way you would like them.

@Butterfly08 You too, to the internet unfortunately.

Personally I quite like pale browny beige neutrals with purple.

We’ve just painted our spare room in dulux mellow mocha and have some purple accessories with it, it looks lovely!

@Butterfly08 off you go to do good works and save the world while we discuss paint colours. You need to lighten up, or at least go and get angry on a more appropriate thread.

I have a lilac painted bedframe in our spare room against greeny/ grey walls ( F&B Mizzle), which I think works well.

I think a v pale blue works well with purple & if it is only paint - easily changed.

Bloody hell what a rude person that butterfly poster is!

OP is it deep bright purple - like a jewelly/amethyst/violet vibe, or deep dark purple, like a dusky aubergine? Do you like colour in general, what is your preferred style?

Might sound bonkers but I agree with some PPs above, orange is a good shout! I moved in and my study was already orange, a shade a few tones more muted than easyjet, but still pretty strong, I was going to change it……but honestly in a study it bloody works, it’s a nice combination of energising/stimulating and cosy/warming, as long as it’s not a jarring shade and staying away from being fluorescent! I’ve gone for deep colour elsewhere too with black furniture (desk, shelving and piano) and charcoal and violet purple elsewhere - not yet finished so can’t photo but planning woodwork/above high dado rail in charcoal, paisley purple pattern stencilled over the orange on one wall, can’t decide on the ceiling yet. Possibly the charcoal or violet up there, the ceiling is very high for quite a small room so want to bring it down.

Alternatively purple and green are lovely together - dusky aubergine with sage green, or violet and emerald.

Or go “monotone” and do everything purple but different shades everywhere. Lavender, lilac, violet, aubergine, all together.

I quite like the idea of starting with the bedding as the inspiration btw.

I like beige and oatmeal colours with purple.
