What colour sofa would you put in this room? (Pic)

I am utterly hopeless at picturing things and get terribly anxious about making big decisions.

We have a small living area that needs a sofa. I've attached a pic of the half of the room I am happy with. Sofa will face the TV unit and yellow chair. The room has big sliding doors all along one side that open into the garden. I need to choose a 2 seater sofa. What colour??
I'm open to all sofa colour suggestions that's aren't grey!

Thank you 🙂

Beige or Green same colour as the plant pot.

GreenLeafTurnip · 16/05/2021 19:04

I would go for a strong colour as your walls are quite plain. I love turquoise but I know it can be a bit over done now. Something like this images.app.goo.gl/QCy9eVgtDrFPkwkv7

Stocksund sofa in grey-beige. It's much more beige than grey. We have the sofa and armchair (the armchair in the grey beige shade) and they are super comfy and I think would fit with your room.

The picture with the woman sitting is closest to the actual colour, it looks darker than it is in most of them

Our stocksund sofa is in the green 'nolhaga' colour and it's lovely

Mzy123 · 16/05/2021 19:12

Tambora · 16/05/2021 19:16

fedupandfiredup · 16/05/2021 19:17

Eggshell blue Smile

itbemay1 · 16/05/2021 19:21

Racing green

Snakeprint · 16/05/2021 19:22

Navy

UnbeatenMum · 16/05/2021 19:22

Dark blue, possibly velvet depending on how wearable it needs to be.

Thanks, the variety of answers is interesting!

A olivey/foresty green was my instinct but DH is less keen. I think he's more into teals and blues than straight green but something about teal isn't sitting right with me. We have it elsewhere in the house, it's not that I don't like it. I think I feel it almost clashes with the plants?? Can furniture clash with leaves?!

Navy is a definite contender too, but it's a mainly north facing room and I don't know if that would be too dark. I do like them it as a colour though.

Thanks for the Stocksund tip. It was one I had bookmarked and we looked at them in Ikea last week but none of the colours grabbed us unfortunately, and I'm determined not to buy something unless I love it this time. (I have form for making expensive furniture mistakes....)

I think a sky blue would work well. BTW I love that plant pot - it’s on my list for my next IKEA trip!

OddsNSodsBitsNBobs · 16/05/2021 19:35

Navy or bottle green in velvet

BrilliantBetty · 16/05/2021 19:35

Orange. And get rid of / change the blanket on that ikea chair.

Aquamarine1029 · 16/05/2021 19:36

I think white could be really beautiful if you accented with colour all around. Pillows, rug, art work, etc. Personally, I prefer big pieces of furniture to be neutral so I can have colour accents, and then change the colour accents when I feel like it.

Spring2021 · 16/05/2021 19:41

Personally, I am boring and practical these days and would want a sofa to last and go with new decor. So I would go for a brown/tan leather sofa which will go with almost any colour scheme. You can jazz it up with cushions and or maybe have go at covering your Ikea chair in a stand out colour or have it recovered?

Any kind of natural green (like leaves) goes with pretty much anything, as long as it is also a natural rather than an artificially created shade. You don't really get that sort of teal in nature.

How about sage green rather than olive?

dodobookends · 16/05/2021 20:02

I wouldn't use a cool colour like teal in a north-facing room unless you are deliberately creating a cool room. Navy is pushing it a bit too.

Warmer colours would be better.

White sounds totally gorgeous... And like I would never relax and it would be ruined in weeks!
So many lovely ideas here, thank you everyone. I could see tan working though I don't think it's "us", and sky blue is something I'd never even thought of.

Not sure I feel any clearer but I'm glad some of the things we've mulled on have been suggested here - they can't be a clashing monstrosity then 😂

I think this is a good idea - if the room isn’t too big and north facing then the big pieces need to recede - on the IKEA link the sofa looks stunning with all of the different coloured cushions - much more interesting, textured and layered than one block of colour. However you could go with an dark orange velvet - it’s v warm and cosy.
Bluesheep8 · 17/05/2021 07:13

I'd suggest navy. With different colour cushions in maybe mustard, plum and grey or a throw draped over the arm in one of those shades.

Temp023 · 17/05/2021 07:17

Good quality brown leather!
Ours is 18 years old, 2 children, 6 cats, 1 dog and still looking good!

Bonitalazenia · 17/05/2021 07:17

I’d go red!
