Wavering on my living room paint colour - which one?!?

If you’re not a fan of strong colours this won’t be a dilemma for you Grin

I want to start painting our living room this weekend, we need to get at least one bit done so we can get the new radiators plumbed in and then the floor put back down and actually start living in there!

I thought I’d made the decision but now I’m wavering! These were the final 2 choices after about 8 A4 tester pages!

Photos show the same 2 options A (Blue Diamond 2) and B (Turquoise Copper) underneath what will be in a large (room width) alcove at the other end of the room - the paper and one of the blue paints, probably the darkest one. The colour we’re choosing here won’t really be next to the paper at all but in the same room.

A or B??? What do you think?

I like the depth of A more

NoSquirrels · 19/02/2021 13:13

B - gorgeous. Picks up the green in the fabric, and is more of a contrast than the blue of A.

But both are lovely. Do you want a green tone to highlight, or an overall blue scheme, that's the choice, I think?

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 19/02/2021 13:15

B - more interesting with the fabric.

Anne1958 · 19/02/2021 13:17

I agree with NoSquirells.

B is lovely.

2021WillBeMyBitch · 19/02/2021 13:19

I like B Smile

LemonViolet · 19/02/2021 13:19

These are the radiators btw, the only other decided bit of the room so far.

Another vote for B

B

B

Rivergreen · 19/02/2021 13:45

I prefer the colour of A, but B goes better with the elephant fabric/paper as a highlight. But A goes better with the dark blue paper than B. It depends what is going directly next to what in the room? And what your be eye will see together.

I'm sorry, I got a bit lost with what was going next to what and where (I don't understand where the dark blue paper comes into the scheme)

Cocolapew · 19/02/2021 13:55

B goes better

ostrom · 19/02/2021 14:17

B but I’m biased cause I’ve picked an almost identical colour for my living room wall which I’m painting this weekend too. Both are fab and I love your fabric! Have fun painting!

Maybemay123 · 19/02/2021 14:24

B.

Doidontimmm · 19/02/2021 14:33

B

LassoOfTruth · 19/02/2021 14:40

Both lovely but I agree with River - A goes better with the dark blue (gorgeous) but B is arguably better with the paper/fabric. Either would work. I’m in a similar dilemma with my bedroom. Just can’t decide!

longtompot · 19/02/2021 14:45

B goes much better with the other colours and the fabric, especially the leaves that's on the fabric.

LemonViolet · 19/02/2021 15:07

Thankyou! I am leaning towards B the last few days as well. B was my initial choice then I wavered and was A for a while, now I’m B again but unsure so finding this reassuring. I think if we go B then maybe the middle of the blue shades rather than the darkest for under the wallpaper.

At the end of the day it’s only paint :-) guess we really shouldn’t agonise so much.

It is a slightly confusing room with lots of ins and outs of walls! Basically this A/B colour is going under the dado on 2 walls and an entire third wall above & below including dado & chimney breast. The fourth wall is set back into an alcove effect because of previous walls being knocked down and then rebuilt further back. This fourth wall will be paper above and blue below/door/etc and around side of the alcove as well. I want to get the same pattern of the paper in fabric to upholster a chair I have..... if I can work out how to upholster! Or pay someone to do that :-)

B and the middle blue will be lovely. You should post a finished room pic when you’re done, bet it will look stunning. I love a moody sting coloured scheme.

MintyCedric · 19/02/2021 15:32

I'd go for B and the darkest of the three blues but I love colour!

Your comment about 'if you're not a fan of colour...' really made me laugh as I opened this post thinking 'I bet it's another one competing half a dozen shades of indeterminate greige!'

The radiator is fab too...you'll have to post some pics when it's done.

steppemum · 19/02/2021 15:47

another vote for B.
I think it looks better with the fabric, and I prefer it against the drak blue too.
The pieces of paper that you have painted, A looks a lot lighter than on the wall though.

I would choose the darkest blue, mid would be OK too, I happen to love the contrast of the dark and B and I think they go best with the elephant fabric.

DrWankincense · 19/02/2021 15:47

B.
In the first 2 pics I liked A best but with the paper B is definitely the way to go. It will look fab with the radiators.
Envy.

LemonViolet · 19/02/2021 15:59

Sod it, the puppy is asleep, I’m going to head out to buy paint and get started Grin

It’ll be a loooong time till the room is actually finished, because it will have shit furniture in it for quite a while I think till we afford to get the built ins done and new sofas.... but will def get photos when at least the decorating is done!

Defintely b..

RuggeryBuggery · 19/02/2021 16:11

B goes better with the wallpaper but I prefer A just because I like blue more than green
