I’m not sure if I like the style or not.. don’t know if I prefer the more crystal glass style or if this is a bit boring or not..

Yes if it's a brighter colour.

Crazzzycat · 24/11/2020 19:10

Do you have any pictures of this style of door without the wreath, as I think that wreath is really distracting (and clashes with the shape of the window).

It might be absolutely fine without it, but I agree that it probably would look better in a lighter colour. The combination of black with this style of door is a bit stern 🤔

NewlyGranny · 24/11/2020 19:22

Simple and elegant!

TodaysUsername88 · 24/11/2020 20:09

Thank you! It’s actually grey albeit a very dark grey. I never noticed the wreath clashing with the shape of the window, you’re right!

I don't like that style: it makes me think of the standard door every house in a new estate gets.

I would be worried about intruders being able to smash the glass and open the door with that one!
katy1213 · 24/11/2020 20:28

No, the second one looks really awful.

imabusybee · 24/11/2020 20:30

Depends on the age and style of the house

ParkheadParadise · 24/11/2020 20:31

I like the first one

wowfudge · 24/11/2020 20:32

The first is a cottage door style. What's the age and style of the house?

Much better!!! The glass makes it. I like dark blue composite doors with that glass xx
user17425642134531 · 24/11/2020 20:36

Hate the first one.

Not sure about the second. Prefer the glass, hate the colour and the shiny fixtures.

Apparently composite doors are pretty easy to kick in compared to wooden doors, so I doubt the size of the glass panes makes a difference either way to security. The door should always be locked with the key out of sight and reach of the door regardless of glass panes.

CuppaZa · 24/11/2020 20:37

The first one is the same as most new build estate houses. The second is the same as every new build house in the early 2000’s

user17425642134531 · 24/11/2020 20:37

Although having said I prefer the second one's glass, I don't like the patterns just the size/configuration. Dated and ugly.

GreyishDays · 24/11/2020 20:38

How much light do you want in the hallway? Second will give you more.

I think you’re right. Something like this might date a bit less, with nicer glass than this.

TodaysUsername88 · 24/11/2020 20:42

Thanks all! House is a 2002 build link detached. We don’t have a hallway as such just a small entrance room that just fits a shoe rack and coats so light doesn’t really matter. I never thought about more glass making it easier for intruders!

Love the first one! Don't like the second one at all, just not my style and looks very dated.

No.
plutodust · 24/11/2020 21:27

The third one looks very dated to me.

LondonlovesLola · 24/11/2020 21:29

I don’t like either tbh! Sorry!
The first one looks really cheap and the second is a bit dated 😓

LondonlovesLola · 24/11/2020 21:40

Similar to your second picture but with nicer fittings...

Ignore the faux stained glass in second pic... frosted glass is nicer I think.
