trying to find a picture of a chair for an upholsterer

Asking for help - I am a bit down atm and struggling to work this out

It was my great aunty Edith's

& I have always loved it and now inherited it

It is small, with arms, it hasn't got legs the upholstery goes down to the floor, on casters

The back is slightly curved and has deep vertical creases/seams like a fan or shell but is much more angular than the 'shell' chairs I can google

& when I have found a picture of it I need fabulous fabric to recover it
Maybe velvet? Maybe Purple/violet or teal/turquoise or possibly a green or a mix? It originally (in my memory) had a 60s/70s course weave with 4 petalled flowers in shades of turquoise blue/green which I'd love to replicate

& my phone is running out of battery.....back as soon as I can, sorry

Mosaic123 · 26/10/2020 22:21

Sorry. I would call that a bedroom armchair.

FlitterMouse · 26/10/2020 22:21

Liberty and John Lewis do some lovely upholstery fabric

FlitterMouse · 26/10/2020 22:27

William Morris style fabric would look lovely

Toilenstripes · 26/10/2020 22:32

Try Jane Clayton

www.janeclayton.co.uk/fabric/retro/

KatyMac · 26/10/2020 22:57

Some of Jane Clayton are lovely but not really lush enough for what I have on mind

I need to find a picture what decade do you think its from ( or is it too generic)

William Morris is, I think, too muted

This is spectacular but not the right colours

The chair is nearly right and the leaf pattern is ok

How about these emmajshipley.com/collections/velvet

DesperatelySeekingSunshine · 27/10/2020 07:22

A friend of mine had one done in fuscia pink velvet, with turquoise piping. It looks amazing!

KatyMac · 27/10/2020 11:20

I saw the Emma Shipely ones at the upholsterers but I thinkthe chair is too small for such a defined repeat really

A plain velvet is a possibility

I love House of Hackney fabric, it's very spendy though.
I also love vintage Sanderson fabric, there's loads on eBay.

Teal velvet would look amazing, or pink, but they are very fashionable so might date quickly.

KatyMac · 27/10/2020 20:29

It was real in the early 70s

Vintage sanderson is fab and ill look at House of Hackne

Real? I meant teal/turquoise ( not sure when one ends and the other begins)

Try Blendworth Fabrics They are gorgeous fabrics and range from very OTT to lovely plain velvets. I have an antique chaise reupholstered in one of the Library fabrics and it brings me joy every time I look at it.

I'll look properly on the laptop later but the Blendworth is one of the fabrics I attached earlier

Wondered if this might be the fabric you remember

minipie · 28/10/2020 17:46

As for the armchair, try googling vintage channel back armchair

My guess is it would originally have had visible legs not a skirt

KatyMac · 28/10/2020 18:24

@minipie no the shape of the flowers is right but they had no stems and there were more different shades of blue/green

I will look atvthoae other suggestions for fabric in the next,t few days - massive baking session today

Do you really think it might have had legs! Wow!
