What would you fill this unique space with?

We have had a beautiful built in wardrobe fitted and it feels good not to be living off temporary rails! The cistern from our bathroom is boxed into our room and hence this quirky little space above it. How would you fill it?

😂 I realise it’s not overly helpful

Lulooo · 19/08/2020 06:17

Decorative perfume bottles, books or three little lights. Personally, I'd do one of those options to keep it uncluttered but you could do all three.

cheekaa · 19/08/2020 06:18

Handbags

FredaFrogspawn · 19/08/2020 06:19

It’s hard to envisage anything working there and looking tidy. Rolled up scarves but that would be messy. I think you need to look for long thin pieces of art! Or a couple of special reference books - a really good atlas and a tall copy of the karma sutra maybe!

Tapiocaisbleurgh · 19/08/2020 06:20

Scarves?
Hand towels rolled up?
Statues Or thin vase?
Decorative candles?
Flip flops?
Belts?

RemyHadley · 19/08/2020 07:12

Honestly I’d get those tiny gaps filled in so it just looks like solid wood. They’re not a useful size or shape and are likely to look cluttered.

If you really want to keep them I’d find something like long thin bottles - sort of vintage perfume look and just display those.

Lochroy · 19/08/2020 07:39

How wide are the gaps? Sorry to say it just looks like a dust trap to me (but I am boringly practical) so I'd actually just get the fitters in to block it off properly in matching wood and write the space off as it doesn't look overly useful.

leafeater · 19/08/2020 07:45

Loo rolls Grin

Dotinthecity · 19/08/2020 07:49

I’d fill them in. It would look neater and tidier.

dudsville · 19/08/2020 07:52

I also agree with the idea to get them filled in. A small section of solid wood would be better.

MsIrrational · 19/08/2020 08:01

I'd cover it with something decorative such as a hanging trailing plant.

Bluesheep8 · 19/08/2020 10:24

Agree with pps. In my opinion if you have to ask how to fill them then you don't need them, fill them in.

Alongcameacat · 19/08/2020 10:43

They are too small to be useful. Anything small enough to fit would come out covered in dust. I’d get them covered in too unless it is too expensive.
Are they horizontal or vertical spaces? I’m unsure from the angle of your photo?
If it costs too much, I’d just put one or two very large books in each section but it wouldn’t be my preference.

Loveden · 19/08/2020 11:10

The only thing I can thing would fit neatly in there would be LPs!
I'd box them in I think.

BigRedBoat · 19/08/2020 14:19

Vinyl records?

SheWhoMustNotBeHeard · 19/08/2020 20:33

Black it up OP. My inner OCD does not like the fact that top shelf is not aligned with the door top horizontally!

NetballHoop · 19/08/2020 20:38

Bottom one has the book I'm reading now, next one has the other book I'm reading now, then the book I'm reading next etc.

Or just fill them in with some naice glass panels.

sitckmansladylove · 19/08/2020 20:40

I would get a panel to cover them. I had a similar gap in our bathroom and it became messy and dusty very quickly.

thesunwillout · 19/08/2020 20:41

Crisp multi packs
Cornflakes
Persil

ScarMatty · 19/08/2020 20:45

Just 3 little plants would look lovely.

thisstooshallpass · 19/08/2020 22:19

Pretty sure OP has spent enough having the wardrobes and quirky bit installed, the last thing the she needs is advice to fill it in?!

3 little cacti?

Soon be dusted with a long feather duster, for those concerned about that.

mnahmnah · 19/08/2020 22:23

Books could look nice, if you chose carefully. Hardbacks only nice colours and patterns

whattodo2019 · 19/08/2020 22:34

Fill them in. They will just collect dust and crap
