Luxury bedding

When we move I want to treat us to some top quality bedding. Really comfortable. I don't usually spend more than £50 on bedding but want something that looks like it's come out of a high end hotel and really comfortable too.

Let's pretend price doesn't matter at this stage! I like white bedding, natural choice was White Company but is the quality worth the price?

What thread count should I look out for?

Do I need a silk pillow case?!

TK Maxx sells some 800 thread linen

nearlynermal · 02/06/2020 20:52

I got a silk pillowcase, but it doesn't wash well. The white company's savoy range is v expensive but feels fab.

Take a look at Dusk. They have a sale on at the mo, nice bedding.

notheragain4 · 02/06/2020 21:35

Sorry all this was right down the bottom of my active threads so hadn't caught it, thank you!

Sorry, I misread. I thought your budget was £50! It is not.

Linen. Get linen bedding. Take a look at La Redoute who have a sale on now.

If you want cotton, then the highest thread count you can afford.

flirtygirl · 03/06/2020 16:49

Tk maxx and homesense, I love and good prices too. Usually cheaper than dunelm, Asda, John Lewis etc.

Amazon and eBay if you type in 300 thread count or 300tc, 400tc, 500tc and cotton bedding. You will get lots of options at all prices.

notheragain4 · 03/06/2020 17:26

I'm assuming the higher the number to more luxurious?! Sorry that's probably a stupid question!

The white Company stuff I got was shit - ££££££££ but crap.

The bedding from Soak and Sleep, however, I would happily swap a child for Grin. High thread count and very expensive but amazing quality.

Feels just like mega luxury hotel sheets.

I'm asking for another set for my birthday as can't justify buying it again!

MaidenMotherCrone · 03/06/2020 17:38

TK Max. I have some 1000 tc. It's so soft yet strong. It's like sleeping in a gentle sigh.

OllyBJolly · 03/06/2020 17:49

It's like sleeping in a gentle sigh

What a lovely image!

We recently bought whole new bedding sets. We've got a super king size bed so it wasnt cheap, but we've gone for a mix of bamboo sheets, and john Lewis 800 thread count cotton duvet cover and pillow cases. It it heavenly, the bamboo sheets are so lovely and smooth and soft, and the cotton is breathable and cosy without being too heavy.. My bed is now my favourite place in the whole house.

1235kbm · 03/06/2020 18:04

Yes, the higher the thread count the better.

MarshaBradyo · 03/06/2020 18:08

On thread count above 400 to 500 is likely a marketing attraction. There’s a few blogs / articles on this I googled when buying my last set.

I have moved on from WC since all the buttons off.

Rebelwithallthecause · 03/06/2020 18:09

Soak and sleep excellent.

notheragain4 · 03/06/2020 18:29

Thanks all, any recommendations for soak and sleep? The 400 count bedding maybe?

OP posts:
FiddlefigOnTheRoof · 03/06/2020 18:33

Soak and sleep, I also love King of Cotton. It’s not just thread count, it’s quality of the cotton (eg Egyptian). And consider the finish you want - crisp or lustrous/silky?

Seeingadistance · 03/06/2020 18:59

I have a silk-filled duvet and pillow which are wonderful!

Rebelwithallthecause · 03/06/2020 19:07

400tc seems to be sweet spot for price and quality feel

Dong go lower than that I’d say

Appuskidu · 03/06/2020 19:11

Do these gorgeous posh duvet sets need to be ironed? I want a new set but really don’t want to be giving myself ironing!!

FusionChefGeoff · 03/06/2020 19:12

I went for 600TC Egyptian Cotton. It did shrink a bit in the tumble dryer though so it's now a good workout to get the fitted sheet on my very deep mattress!!

ivykaty44 · 03/06/2020 19:12

House of Fraser have some good deals

Tinkletwat · 03/06/2020 19:13

White Company quality has plummeted over the past 10 years but price has gone up, not worth it at all.

ivykaty44 · 03/06/2020 19:16

Appuskidu

I hang on the line but not over the line, I peg the edges up.

Iron damp as it’s easier then, watch Netflix

Then fold and put on surer to dry completely

Put away

But it’s worth it

I would like a much better iron, they vary considerably. So if you have a powerful iron then it would make ironing very easy

notheragain4 · 03/06/2020 19:23

I have to tumble dry our sheets as DH has hay fever so we can't dry them outside, I suppose I could air dry inside but would take up a lot of space!

Rebelwithallthecause · 03/06/2020 19:56

I never iron my bed linen Blush
