What can I do to make this god awful bathroom better?

We are renting a property, plan to be here a couple of years, the landlords nice, said we can decorate how ever we can, do what we like but if we're to pain walls black to put them to more a more neutral colour when we leave. So we've decorated the rooms because they where really badly done when we first moved.

However the bathroom is horrible, it's covered in this weird plastic glittery tile, is there anything we can buy to cover it? It really ruins the rest of the house

You can get tile stickers I think. You'll get used to it and won't notice it eventually

Tile paint?

DC fix .. bit like patterned sticky back plastic. If your on facebook check the group out. The transformations are great.

Will the stickers stay on with it getting steamy in there?

Get lots of plants to hide it! Plants in bathrooms are really popular atm.

Could you ask the landlord if you could remove it and tile the bathroom?

Some plants in the window and a colourful striped cotton rug. I would just live with it to be honest, it's not that bad.

There's some kind of paint, Zinsser 123 something, you can use to paint almost anything, we used it on uPVC windows and it was amazing - it's like an undercoat and you can paint over it with normal paint. I'll try and find it.

Possibly because our cloakroom bathroom has a pink toilet/sink, purple toilet seat, and grim brown plastic flooring. We haven't got round to doing it up yet . . .

I think it's bizarre rather than awful.

Could you change the grout so it matches the tile/ wall. It will look less stripey.

Whilst the landlord is happy for you to paint walls etc I doubt they would want you painting over that. I've seen that stuff, it's like a cheapo fix so they don't have to use proper tiles.

I think it's alright tbh. It'd look worse painted or with sticky vinyl over imo.

Plants, shelves (if you are allowed to put them up) and mirrors.

I don't think it's that bad.
Bit bold- yes, but you can make it work at least temporarily.
Navy blue goes well with walnut, dark wood, white and gold colours.
I wouldn't paint it honestly.
But I would consider change the floor- which isn't that pricey and can alter the space.

It might not be to your taste but it looks a hell of a lot more decent than the bathrooms in some properties I've rented over the years!

@LuisaKelmen sorry, it looks abit blue in the pictures but is black with like multicoloured bits of glitter in it 🤦
