I really don't want to put anything back, there's a sideboard that usually goes there.

It's lovely. A sideboard with a bunch of flowers on it will finish it off nicely.

I think you need a console table

I'd get a narrow dark wood console table to go over the radiator and put a chinese style lamp or vase on it. You are right - the one you show is too clunky. Your hall is lovely.

Yes, a console table would be perfect. The sideboard isn’t elegant enough for that lovely space.

I would put up a gilt mirror (nothing ornate) and a clear plastic (Philippe Stark) or clear glass narrow console table. Your light fitting is very stylised, and you’re using white-light bulbs, so you’re quite restricted in what you can use.
