Nearly done
I really don't want to put anything back, there's a sideboard that usually goes there.

Love the floor!

You need a lovely, elegant, console table.

Tomboytown · 31/05/2019 22:16

I don't have anything I could put there
I've just thought of where I could put the sideboard though.
Not sure glass or gilt is me.
The chandelier and the floor I've inherited, I didn't choose them, but I love them now

The house was built in 1910

Actually, I have this that's looking for a home. It's grey though and I have this mirror in grey

I guess I'll see what it looks like

I'd kill for a hall like that!

AlexaAmbidextra · 31/05/2019 23:02

I don’t think I’d be putting anything grey there. I don’t think that will look great with the colour palette you have.

Tomboytown · 31/05/2019 23:07

No, the grey would go with the pink, but not ok with the floor, but I could paint it

I’d go for a modern contrast and use something like these.

What’s pink? Is it the wall? It’s looking taupe on my tablet.

HasThisSoddingNameGoneToo · 31/05/2019 23:35

I'd never heard of a console table before this thread! If I hadn't read this, I'd have honestly thought it was something you put your Xbox on.

What is it?

thistimeofyear · 31/05/2019 23:40

Love the hall - very elegant - I agree about the sideboard - too big and chunky - I wouldn't have a white console table though would look too clinical - something slimmer and maybe light oak? difficult with that wood floor to get the right wood though ...

thistimeofyear · 31/05/2019 23:42

loads of console tables on wayfair...

PenelopeFlintstone · 31/05/2019 23:50

Beautiful chandelier (and hall)

Tomboytown · 31/05/2019 23:56

Yeah the wall is a chalky pink

I can see a leggy antique walnut sideboard in there, something like this eBay one would look beautiful with just a big vase of flowers on top

lboogy · 01/06/2019 22:52

The rest of your house must be spectacular

Tomboytown · 01/06/2019 23:55

Just put it back for now cos we had party tonight

Love the darker pink in the porch,, looks a bit brown, but it's the most amazing dark pink, it's called sulking room pink.

Iboogy- I'm trying v hard to decorate/renovate sympathetically
It's a beautiful house

I think it looks absolutely fine the way you have it now. Don't waste money buying console tables etc that you don't need. That sideboard does not obstruct movement/access in your hall so you don't need a really narrow console table.

SwedishEdith · 03/06/2019 23:22

Agree, it looks fine as it is.

JosephineHass · 03/06/2019 23:31

I would go with something like this:

I like what you have, looks fabulous.

pastaparadise · 03/06/2019 23:38

Beautiful floors and chandeliers. I'd love a hall - our current house has a quirky layout and front door opens into the kitchen, and i really miss it

Ohyesiam · 03/06/2019 23:43

I’d get something Edwardian to go with the style of the house

Iloveliberty · 03/06/2019 23:51

I love it, it’s perfect just how it is. The side board looks lovely with the lamp and flowers on it 😊

caranx · 04/06/2019 05:24

I think your last photo everything is looking wow. Think the issue as PP pointed out is the very harsh white tone light bulbs in the chandelier. They kill the warm tones of the floor and walls. Though thats a lots of lightbulbs to replace!

Tomboytown · 04/06/2019 09:30

Caranx, I'm not too bothered about the chandelier lights, they are rarely on, because they are so bright! The 2 chandeliers are on the same switch and the bulbs have all just recently been changed to led ones,
The little lamp gives a lovely soft light, I've got that on a timer.
