This rug, yay or nay

For living room which is neutral but has lots of natural textures (wood, brick, leather). Want to brighten it up a bit and add some bright colours from the rug.

Is this awful or nice?

I think it’s lovely - wouldn’t work in every room obviously - but from what you’ve described it would be perfect Smile

Flameless · 23/10/2018 10:23

I like it.

SilentIsla · 23/10/2018 10:27

Not my style. Looks too ubiquitous.

inabox · 23/10/2018 10:34

I had to google what that meant! I can cope with ubiquitous.

Thought about pulling out pink, orange and charcoal for cushions and throws??

HollidayArmadillo · 23/10/2018 10:35

I'd probably pull out the navy for cushions etc
Love the rig though

HollidayArmadillo · 23/10/2018 10:35

Eug even 🙄

HollidayArmadillo · 23/10/2018 10:36

Rug! Argh!!

TubeTop · 23/10/2018 10:37

Yay

Plexie · 23/10/2018 10:41

Is it a Margot Selby design? Good way to introduce colour. If you like it, get it!

FritzyMousey · 23/10/2018 10:43

Looks lovely and so many colours to choose from!

inabox · 23/10/2018 10:44

Yes it is. From habitat.

I don't think it's got navy in it?

OP posts:
LittleBookofCalm · 23/10/2018 10:45

oh yes, it is a bit ubiquitous

vinegarqueen · 23/10/2018 10:45

Love it! Good as an accent in otherwise neutral room.

inabox · 23/10/2018 10:46

It did have a lot of reviews!

Excuse the mess but this is the room

its nice op

Bluntness100 · 23/10/2018 10:49

I think it's a bit play room or child's room ish to be honest.

silkpyjamasallday · 23/10/2018 10:50

I think it will look good in that room, and nice to pick out colours from it for cushions/artwork.

Also, you call that a mess?! Grin you should see my living room right now, which I deem as relatively tidy and is a bomb site compared to yours OP!

0lga · 23/10/2018 10:50

I think it’s lovely and I’ve never seen it before, so it can’t be that ubiquitous.

I also like your idea of some bright cushions. If everything else in the room is neutral it could cope with orange and magenta cushions. IKEA have orange cushions for the price of a coffee - risk it !

0lga · 23/10/2018 10:52

That’s a fabulous room BTW, love the fireplace and floor.

delilabell · 23/10/2018 10:53

Beautiful!! Will look lovely in your (v tidy) living room

Plexie · 23/10/2018 10:58

That flooring looks lovely, not sure I would cover it. Do you actually 'need' a rug or do you want it for the colours? If the latter I would probably just get cushions.

inabox · 23/10/2018 11:05

Thanks about the floor! My husband has just laid it (along with underfloor heating). He applied the stain wrong and had to scrub it all off with wire wool and reapply so it's been a bit of a labour of love!!! I'm really glad pleased with it now though.

I did think about not having a rug but I think it will be nice to have somewhere cosy for the kids to sit/play/watch TV.

Agree with the person who said it's a bit playroom, it's brighter than I would normally go for but I figure there are toys everywhere all the time anyway and everyone keeps telling me the room needs colour so I'm just going to go for it, for a change!

OP posts:
LittleBookofCalm · 23/10/2018 11:25

would your dh be offended if you cover his labour of love floor with a rug?

0lga · 23/10/2018 11:39

I think a rug would protect and complement that lovely floor. Don’t think of it as covering it.

Hope you don’t mind my mentioning it but I suspect the room needs better lighting to show off all these lovely features.
