We're decorating my son's bedroom and want to cover his mid blue walls with a warm pale grey. We've got a few sample pots but they seem to be drying with a lilac/mauve tinge. Any recommendations?

Ooh that dreaded tinge. I'm on the same hunt op. Looking for a pale grey chalk myself.

ScarlettDarling · 18/08/2018 09:27

Let me know if you find one please duds!

I'm no help here, but I'm looking for a pale greyish purple - so please tell me what you've used already! Grin

Pebble by Crown is the colour I've just done my son's and my bedroom with and I'm really happy with the finish.

Which way does the room face? Cornforth White in a south facing room will look purple ish. Dulux Dusted Moss 2 looks grey in south facing but has a green tinge in others. It’s very costly going through all the testers...

BiscuitMachine · 18/08/2018 09:55

F & B Dimpse in my kitchen, pale grey and doesn’t seem to have a hint of anything else, although the room doesn’t get much sunlight.

Tentomidnight · 18/08/2018 11:26

Vickie, try F&B Elephants Breath.

Pavillion Grey is s good pale grey with no hints of mauve.

Oliviaxox21 · 18/08/2018 11:33

Would agree, F&B Pavilion Grey

Also a really soft grey I would recommend is the Boltons- a Mylands paint

Or Inox by Little Greene (this is my favourite)

ScarlettDarling · 18/08/2018 11:45

Wasn't really wanting to pay F&B prices for my son's bedroom, but may have to. Will have a look at Crown Pebble first, off for more tester pots!

Vickie the tester pots we've tried definitely couldn't be called a pale greyish purple....they're all grey, just with a hint of lilac in certain lights!

His room is west facing, so plenty of light for much of the day.

Dulux Polished Pebble

VickieCherry · 18/08/2018 12:50

Tentomidnight, Elephant's Breath looks brown to me - in after a cool shade.

ScarlettDarling - ah, ok then! I'd suggest Polished Pebble as I think it's a lovely pale grey on our west-facing landing, but I know a lot of people see purple in it.

LexieLoos · 18/08/2018 13:36

Dulux Goosedown is lovely

dudsville · 18/08/2018 19:34

This is so helpful that people are posting about cookies they've tried!

Today I tried dulux easy care in:
Chic shadow - no tinge yet but quite dark

Goose down is slightly purple

Polished pebble is slightly pink

These were all tested on a white wall.

Now, I'm off back up thread to look at the moss one that app mentioned!

I’ve been thinking Cornforth White for a west facing bedroom. But don’t want it purple toned either. You can get copies of the F&B colours.

MrsBlondie · 19/08/2018 07:20

After same for my hall. polished pebble looks lilac

Stringofpearls · 19/08/2018 07:24

Dulux polished pebble dried a chalky white grey in our lounge.

dudsville · 19/08/2018 09:09

Where ice said pink I think you're more spot on re lilac mrsblondie.

My local B&q doesn't have all the samples but I went to the dulux website and they have free delivery until the 31st. I just ordered several samples.

thethoughtfox · 19/08/2018 10:01

Dulux Just Walnut. it is a gorgeous very pale slightly warm grey. I painted dd's bedroom in it and so far 3 people who admired it are now using it for their living rooms.

peachypetite · 19/08/2018 10:04

Duluth polished pebble

peachypetite · 19/08/2018 10:04

Dulux *

Oh2beatsea · 19/08/2018 10:30

I tried lots of greys and again didn’t want to pay F & B prices to decorate a large office space. We used Dulux Goosedown and it’s a lovely clam, pale grey. It’s quite dull here today so not the best picture but hopefully you can see what it’s like.

Please recommend me a good pale grey
Sirrah · 19/08/2018 15:05

Polished pebble sometimes looks blue in my bright lounge.

DramaAlpaca · 19/08/2018 15:08

I've got Dulux Calm Cloud in my sitting room. It's a lovely pale grey with no mauve tint in any light. The only trouble is I'm in Ireland and I think some of the Dulux colours have different names, so I'm probably not being as helpful as I'm trying to be!
