Is this wallpaper naff?

So, DH and I are slowly decorating our new house. Our room is going to be a light purple shade and we were looking for wallpaper for the wall behind our bed. I was at B&Q and I saw this (pic attached)

Is it naff? We're in our 30s. Is it the kind of wallpaper someone younger should have? Will we hate it once it's up? Is it too garish? Or am I just being too safe? Our previous house was very boring, all beige and magnolia. I'm wanting to be a bit more daring. It's only for one wall.

If you like it go for it!!

Teaformeplz · 31/07/2018 15:19

Personally not keen, definitely think you'll go off it really quick!

People who are more on trend than me will probably tell you that wallpaper on feature walls is terribly passé, but I like them and I think that wallpaper is charming if you've had a surfeit of magnolia.

MikeUniformMike · 31/07/2018 15:20

Go for it. Embrace the naffness. My taste is well dodgy and I'm proud of it.

Yeah I guess they are a bit but I definitely couldn't have this on all the walls (!)

Personally I'm not keen, but it's not terrible - I've seen a lot worse! As PP said if you like it go for it.
The question is do you think you'll get bored of it after a while?

Madbengalmum · 31/07/2018 15:56

Not the best, but seen worse!

MoreCheerfulMonica · 31/07/2018 16:03

Exactly! I think that for one wall - and especially a wall that you won't be looking at all the time - it's rather jolly and you could pick out a few accessories to match.

5000KallaxHoles · 31/07/2018 16:06

That's going to be a fucking bastard to pattern match with a lot of wasted roll with the size of the pattern is my first thought.

It's your house - if you like it and it's going to make you smile on a morning - go for it. On MN everyone thinks everything is naff unless it comes with an exhorbitant price tag

CointreauVersial · 31/07/2018 16:09

It's not my taste, but it's your bedroom, and if you like it you could make it work.

One suggestion, which is very on-trend at the moment - if you don't want to do the whole wall, is just to do a "panel" behind the bed head. See pics.

I prefer your choice op Smile

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 31/07/2018 16:22

Mmm...nice but looks more suited to a child's bedroom (no offence).

Seeyounexttue · 31/07/2018 16:24

Not keen on either, but prefer the pink. B and q used to do a yellow one with birds (peacocks or phoenixes I think?) - I quite like that one if you're just doing one wall

blametheparents · 31/07/2018 16:25

Your DH choice would suit a child’s bedroom better, I think.
But - your house and your choice. Depends what you match it with.

Ginger1982 · 31/07/2018 16:35

Hmm, yes perhaps it is a bit childlike! Back to the drawing board I think!!

Thanks everyone!

Is that first paper mock pictures of someone else's fabulous travels?

If so, it's a bit fake - make your own photo wall with with your own memories!

spugzbunny · 31/07/2018 16:45

No to both but it's your house!

There’s this along the travel theme in the right colour pallet?

MissLadyM · 31/07/2018 16:59

I LOVE it!

Ginger1982 · 31/07/2018 17:55

blametheparents I actually brought home a sample of that paper too but DH isn't so keen.

You can have wallpaper made from your own photos - end result is like the paper in your first picture.
I have some friends who have it in an area of their kitchen and it looks fab and is such a talking point.
