Hello, my rug is stuck under my super heavy dining room table and I can’t get it out. Any ideas how I do this? I know I’ve been stupid but I nievley thought I’d never change the rug at time of rug and table installation! Now I hate the rug Shock

is it because the table is too heavy to move or because the (backing of) the rug has stuck to the flooring?

GlitterCity · 03/02/2018 13:12

There is no rubber backing on the rug or rug grip of any kind; it’s the table that’s too heavy.

I can lift up sides of the rug but can’t slide it out.

The floor it’s on is a tiled dining room floor.

Can you lift one end of the table and wedge it up with something? Like a chair?

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 03/02/2018 13:14

Or tip the table on its side. Carefully.

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 03/02/2018 13:15

Or go for the MN recommended team of rugby players we all know Grin

GlitterCity · 03/02/2018 13:15

If I lift one end the top would lift Up but not the base of the tablet It’s a heavy slab on top of a block base if that makes sense, it fixes in place with sheer weight.

Are you trying to do it on your own, or do you have a spare pair of gands?
Lift one corner, scrunch rug up under table so that leg can go back onto the floor.
Repeat in ither corners til whole rug is under the table, then roll/fold to get it out of the room?

SandLand · 03/02/2018 13:17

Ah, ignore me.
Rugby team it it!

GlitterCity · 03/02/2018 13:19

There no table legs, it sits on a block base that’s in very middle of base if that makes sense.

GlitterCity · 03/02/2018 13:23

I curse the day I ever let dh get this thing. Lovely table but can’t move the dam thing!

Ok you need to do a Facebook shoutout. Or a text around your local friends and family, or colleagues eyes. Or any neighbours that might help. Get as many hands as you can.

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 03/02/2018 13:24

Colleagues EYES?? Confused

DrWhy · 03/02/2018 13:28

DH says, do you still want the rug? If not, just cut closely round the base with a sharp Stanley knife!

GlitterCity · 03/02/2018 13:28

Looking like my option, either that or cutting the rug but even then the left over piece would prob be stuck under!

OP posts:
GlitterCity · 03/02/2018 13:29

*only option

Oldraver · 03/02/2018 13:29

Can you pull the rug and table over to one side, then get under the table and each of you 'walk' the table across ?

I take it it's the kind of table with a column in the middle ?

Tiredmumno1 · 03/02/2018 13:29

Oh yes Donny has it, get your family and friends to help lift then roll your colleagues eyes under and use them to roll the table off the mat GrinGrin

GlitterCity · 03/02/2018 13:30

Thanks I do have another place for the rug but cutting it is looking veg tempting right now. I hate how I can’t put another rug under but I think win this type of table no
Rug is prob best!
