I know it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm wondering if there any are fellow Mumsnetters who like mid-century modern/modernist furniture?

I am not any kind of expert, but I find myself increasingly drawn to this style. My most coveted item at the moment is the Finn Juhl no 45. There is no way I'll ever be able to afford an original - but does anyone have the repros? Are they any good?

Pleased to be among friends of modernism and wishing very hard that my hints for a G Plan festivo stool for Christmas were listened to

well shove - I saw House of the Year again last night.
Not really keen on any of them , but loved the walled garden Grin
And I really, really didn't like the one that won. Just too much going on.
There !

I just picked up a knock-off Eileen Grey E1027 table. I've always wanted one, but could never justify the original. The best thing is, it comes from a really great homeless charity in my city, so the £30 I paid has gone to a great cause! Grin

Ooh! I've found my happy MN place, a little late!

I love MCM. I have an Ercol Jubilee 3 piece suite that been sat as just a frame at one end of the living room, waiting for me to be able to afford to have it reupholstered. Got myself a lovely sideboard for a snip a couple of years ago and I'm currently listing after a Ladderax combo to replace the wobbly Billy bookcases. I'll going to read the whole thread and swoon.

Thank you

Can I join please? I'm moving house soon due to divorce and I'm hoping to style my new place with some mid century pieces.

Just discovered this thread

I moved to a 60s house last year and have bought a few older items. My best bargain was a cupboard /bookcase with sliding glass doors for 99p from eBay. I also got a table and chairs which are a bit marked and scuffed but I really like them. The chairs were covered in mouldy old fabric so I ripped it all off and recovered them.

Anyone watch Cuckoo? I recently binge watched it. I love a lot of their house!

Meant to mention that the cupboard has 'Gibbs' on the back. Dont know if that is a well known make?
