Help me decide on curtains before I lose the will to live

I can't trawl through anymore shops. We moved here 6 months ago and still have no curtains in the lounge.

I've had a specific idea in my head, but I can't find curtains or even just fabric like it. My friend actually has a pair similar to what's in my mind, but apparently they are Laura Ashley about 15 years ago. (See pic for swatch)

I'll attach some photos of lounge in the next post (MN seems to malfunction for me if I post a long post plus pictures) but there are two windows. We're in a farmhouse, so I don't like anything modern, but it's hard to find two sets of curtains the same when looking in charity shops for example.

I did think a lined linen curtain might be nice, or a neutral heavy velvet, but I don't love those ideas, they'll just 'do for now' if you see what I mean

What lovely curtains have you got?

Just spent a lovely half hour meandering through the Peony and Rose site. The egg and feather one caught my eye too"

I can't stop thinking about this and this fabric, but I think over £800 on curtains might make DP need a sit down for a week

I'm wondering whether to just get these for now, and maybe replace them with a really gorgeous pair in a year or so's time, when we've finished all other costly renovations and may have a better idea of how long we'll stay in this house. I always underestimate the cost of curtains, and I don't think I'd quite considered what a huge cost it would be to decorate two windows matching! Our shutters only cost £125 per window so it is taking a lot of willpower not to call the carpenter back Grin

I am going to get those IKEA black curtain rods though. They're lovely.

Yes it's a big cost especially if you are not 100% certain.
Now knowing you have still renovations ( also dust gets everywhere)to complete and also you haven't lived there through all the seasons, I personally would compromise and have the 3rd ones you linked as a stop gap.plus treat yourself or make some nice cushions. - I sometimes chop and change cushions with the seasons!
However would probably want to try and tuck a bit of money away for new curtains after you finish your project just it case the coffers are empty !
Your house looks lovely.

This is the rose one I posted earlier. Much cheaper! www.justfabrics.co.uk/curtain-fabric-upholstery/antique-rosanna-fabric/

Ah thank you just - I really love it but I know it's not to everyone's taste. After having a certain friend over who turned her nose up at everything Sad

I think your house is lovely too and it's nothing like mine. Different taste but still pretty Smile

This is a lovely thread. Far too much temptation. Your house is stunning op

I think wither the linen from dunhelm and save for the good curtains or the last rose print is a beautiful choice either.
