handlemecarefully · 20/06/2005 09:59

hey - all suggestions welcome. I've no pre-conceived ideas about where I want to go!

with or without kids?
For how long?
Abroad or this country?
big or little budget?

elsmommy · 20/06/2005 10:06

I've got hardly any money so we booked this yesterday!

It was only £179 quid for the week

handlemecarefully · 20/06/2005 10:18

Desperate: With kids....

This country or abroad (but not majorly long haul)

1-2 weeks

Budget quite generous but cheaper ideas as welcome as more deluxe ideas. Eclectic tastes!

If you'd fancy self-catering in a cottage, Kennacott Court is excellent.

handlemecarefully · 20/06/2005 10:23

That looks fun Elsmommy. We've just come back from a long w/end in Scarborough - my parents live there, and the kids had the best time

There's a lot to be said for self catering. I find it a bit more relaxing to have the greater space in a self catering cottage / apartment than a hotel room. Thanks for the link WWB - sounds excellent, particularly given the on site facilities.

can really recommend this

We got a fortnight halfprice because we booked quite close to departure date.

handlemecarefully · 20/06/2005 10:27

Wow - asking for links has generated some fab ideas. Could end up spoilt for choice!!!

We've just been to the Isle of WIght for the first time and fell in love with it (the South and West side of the island).

I now spend a great deal of my free time browsing estate agents websites looking for a holiday home there

We stayed at a nice hotel, The Wellington in Ventnor - but self catering would be an excellent option there.

throckenholt · 20/06/2005 10:30

this (or Talmine just on the other side of the Kyle, is our favourite area - great beaches and empty. A long drive though !

elliott · 20/06/2005 10:31

Daphne's at zakynthos (google it to find the web page). Great for a low key beach holiday.

This is where I'd go back to in a flash if I could afford to, our honeymoon destination

Makunudu, Maldives

Gobbledigook · 20/06/2005 11:52

Also been here and it's beautiful - we went in summer and had everything from hot and sunny to snow!!

Obergurgl, Austria

Gobbledigook · 20/06/2005 11:53

The Bergwelt perhaps not a kids place though...

QueenOfQuotes · 20/06/2005 11:54

Victoria Falls, in Zim (don't know of any links)

You don't have to stay in Zim, you can stay in Zambia and view the falls from either side of the 'border' - lovely place, warm, sunny and VERY impressive :-)

We went here

a couple of years ago and it was great.

The location is fantastic for kids - so much to do:-

Water park nearby
Universal's Port Aventura (theme park)
Barcelona - 2 hours by train

the hotel also has entertainment for the kids.

It was fab!!!
