Can you advise me if anyone has been to a new play area that has opened in the Waltham Abbey area? I think it is called Fire Station?? If you do know anything about it, is it good as I was thinking of taking DD2 there tomorrow.

Did you go on the big slide Starlight - because if you did I'm definitely going to have a go too.

I'm in Cheshunt and have taken my DS a couple of times. The toddler area is good compared to others I've seen - although he's constantly escaping and going off to explore.

a few of my friends have been to The Firehouse for parties and raved about it

the place in Harlow looks good

there is a lovely garden centre in Ware called Van Hagues (around 20 mins from my part of Essex) and it has animals, a mini train and it is lovely

you can easily spend a couple of hours there (food is v pricey though)

Starlight, yes I went down the slide. DD2 loved it too then got a moment when she wouldn't go down so it was a nightmare coaxing her down. Mamabellis looks good and when DD1 does her ballet rehearsal at the Playhouse I shall take DD2 there for a bit. Thanks for that. All these places are so much better than Kids Korner, which is dark and smells of chips and staff are miserable and bored.

I would recommened Mamabelli. The people there are lovely and they have proper food for adults and kids that isnt expensive. Been to the firehouse twice and both times ive had problems with some of the mothers there because they dont watch their kids slapping and pushing the other children, This is mainly because they have come from the local Gypsies site down the road. If you want a GREAT place to go go Kidspace(Romford or Croydon) absoulty brilliant we spent 5 hrs there last week

SIMSMAD · 22/08/2009 00:06

Anyone else been to the Firehouse Play Centre in Waltham Abbey??

We visit it every week. I have also been to Kids Korner but not weekly as it is dark inside, hard to see the kids, also looks dirty.
My kids love going to the firehouse. I enjoy it to, it is clean and bright and they have a large inflatable slide which is just as much fun for me as it is for the kids.
The food is brilliant. It is reasonable priced and is delicious. My husband comes along just for the food, especially the full monty breakfast.
The staff are really helpful and very polite. We recently attended a party and the party host was brilliant, he spent most of his time playing with the birthday child and the rest of the kids. When he wasn't playing he was checking with the birthday childs mum that everything was ok.
A great place to take the kids to burn of some energy.
