Oh- they have every sort of sand & you can get stuff put into your lips to make them look really big, which is good for Instagram apparently.

Probably give the opera a swerve.

That’s a lot of words to say you’re bored with your own life 🤣

Not safe at the moment. Do you read the news? Check your travel insurance fir evacuation cover if the airport gets bombed.

Thanks for the unsolicited disaster planning. You must be exhausted worrying about everyone else’s holidays 😂

Towards the end of your week, if you fancy a change from the mall, there's always Al Awir Central Prison?

I hear it's surprisingly easy to arrange a visit.

Are you a bit bored today @RogerBakewell?

Lovely, I’ll ask for a guided tour. You seem to know your way around. You sound like a regular. 🤣

I think top of the list for a 6yr old would be Atlantis Waterpark. well worth a day trip.

The fountains at the Mall are spectacular - if you are organised you can book a restaurant with Fountain views and enjoy dinner and the music and lights. I think the show starts at 6pm but book the restaurant for outside seats. This could be paired with a trip to the Burj.

Definately go to the Souk, take an Abra across the creek and look at the gold, spices, fragrances and leather goods.

If you want to escape the city, car hire is very reasonable. Head out to the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve to view oryx or the Ras al Khor wetlands to see flamingos. One of our DC's favourite trips was to the Abu Dhabi Falcon Hospital - I'm aware it sounds random! It has to be booked before, but it is a guided tour behind the scenes of their work prepping and caring for the birds prior to the racing season. It is fascinating and well worth a trip.

There's so much to do.

Go to the mall.
Bit of missile dodging.
Marvel at the standard of driving.
Give your inhalers a full road test.
Did I mention the mall?

OK, sure. This little gem of advice isn't from me, it's from the British Government

"The underwater zoo is good and so is the speedboat ride"

Oh wait, no, that's not it. Here it is:

"If advised to take shelter, stay indoors or find the nearest safe building or designated shelter. An interior stairwell or a room with as few external walls or windows as possible may provide additional protection.

The greatest risk is from falling debris caused by intercepts, and you are safest inside a secure structure. Do not approach or touch any drone or missile fragments or unusual objects"

You're very welcome and if more advice would be helpful, just say

I’d just enjoy the beach and great weather for most part. The desert safari is worth doing once to see the dunes and do the drive but the evening camp gets a bit tedious unless you book a private driver and can leave early or you do a very fancy one. Aquaventure water park is good. As far as I know Wild Wadi has been closed for a long time. The malls and stuff and museums etc are fine, also going up Burj Khalifa is OK if you like tall buildings. Hope you have a good time.

Still cannot get my head around why anyone would want to go there, let alone intentionally.

Agreed. Weird.

LesLavandes · Yesterday 21:32

Check with your travel insurance that you are insured. I am not insured to go to Middle East now but maybe Dubai is fine. Gov website on travel will keep you uptodate.

Thecows · Yesterday 22:49

Bizarre destination at any time but given recent events I'm also intrigued as to why you'd risk it,

Human rights abuses, for me.

I am with you in not considering Dubai for a holiday. It's seventh on the Global Slavery Index. HOWEVER do you also go and shout at people about planning holidays to Turkey? Turkey is fifth on the Global Slavery Index. (The others in the top ten are not really holiday destinations).

Legoland and Green Planet. Warner Bros World if you fancy a trip to AD. I was in Dubai last weekend, still a bit warm to do much walking but just mooching around was fun. Downtown area really comes alive in the evenings, many free things to see.

I don't get why you're so salty at people posting about human rights.abuses. You don't care? Great. Move on. But for many of us, slavery, indentured servitude and abuses are a reason not to have a fun holiday somewhere. If you're happy with it, ignore the pesky bleeding heart liberal leftie woke twats.

But if it's annoying you, maybe work out why. Little guilt maybe...

We enjoyed the Museum of the Future. Aquaventure is brilliant
