atlantis water park, global village, hope across to Abu Dhabi and do Ferrari world, hang out at kite beach/JBR, a boat trip at the marina. There’s actually lots to see and do other than the malls!

SnapAndTap · 10/10/2026 16:21

Cross the creak in an Abra!

That's about the only bit I remember. Well, the big aquarium in one of the malls too.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 10/10/2026 17:00

The aquarium and underwater zoo at the Dubai Mall.

The Frame observation deck

The Yellow boats near Jumeirah Beach

as long as 6 year old doesn’t get car sick then book a desert safari with camel ride and dune bashing.

The water parks are fab - Atlantis or wild wadi. Legoland waterpark is arguably better for a 6yo.

Ferry from the marina does a round trip late afternoon - go earlier in day to book tickets at the booth behind Marina mall as it sells out. Great way to get out on the water without a private yacht hire. You can go the whole way marina to creek at various times but that’s a long time stuck on the boat for a 6yo.

Abra boat across the creek is fun. Dress modestly yourself for going to the souks, it’s not the same as the marina/downtown. Cover shoulders and knees to feel more comfortable. You can take the metro there - pay for gold coach then you can also enjoy more space and the end carriage view as you travel.

spend some time on the public beaches along jumeira. Best ones for families imo are just north of Dubai sailing club or kite beach beside Tent Jumeirah beach cafe.

global village I could take or leave. It’s fine.

Formula Rossa at Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi.

Still cannot get my head around why anyone would want to go there, let alone intentionally.

Helpmefindmysoul · 10/10/2026 20:23

The aquarium at Dubai mall is meh nothing you’ll miss.
Global village is good for parents and kids as they have fun fair rides.
Definitely the souks but it can be tiring and toilets are a bit miss in that area but there is a lovely boat ride across the creek for 1 dirham.
JBR is touristy nothing really to see - beach day but if you’re staying in that location walk over to marina in the evening it’s beautiful.
You could also visit the grand mosque.
Yas Island too.

If you fly Emirates there’s a website where you can use your boarding pass to get discounts on a lot of attractions, such as boat trips - do a sunset one.
The Burg Kalifa is memorable and for your little girl House of Hype at Dubai Mall is a fabulous experience (think may be on the discount too) Then the shops around China Town in the Mall and eat there too.

not for a 6 year old! 😂

Oops! Overlooked this in my enthusiasm!

Why?

dustabsorber · 11/10/2026 14:06

You might want to take a few flying lessons before you go - just in case.

Then avoid the clearly titled thread then and mind your own beeswax.

Why?

Human rights abuses, for me.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to send recommendations and suggestions via private messages, especially given how derailed the thread has become. Really appreciate it!

Phew, I honestly didn’t expect the topic to be quite so triggering for some people! As someone rightly pointed out, the title makes it clear what the discussion is about. If it makes you that uncomfortable, you can simply avoid the thread and keep scrolling! 😊

Not the thread for you then. Different people like different things.

The Dubai safari park, upgrade to the Safari tour and you won't be disappointed. Book the feeding/encounter experiences when you enter the park as these sell out quickly.

The speedboat ride around the palm was also enjoyed by my children, and talked about a lot more than Atlantis which was a bit of a disappointment.

The Frame was good but if you were short on time I wouldn't bother.

TopGolf on an evening is so much fun.

The inflatable in the sea at JBR was good, you need to buy the non slip socks though otherwise you spend more time on your bottom or in the sea.

I didn't say that?

RogerBakewell · 12/10/2026 16:17

There's so much to do.

Go to the mall.
Bit of missile dodging.
Marvel at the standard of driving.
Give your inhalers a full road test.
Did I mention the mall?

Imagine all that typing when scrolling was right there 😂

Oh- they have every sort of sand & you can get stuff put into your lips to make them look really big, which is good for Instagram apparently.

Probably give the opera a swerve.
