Just echoing other posts really, but I loved the salt mines, but would book a ticket in advance to skip the queues, and although there is good cheap public transport, it involves a bit of walking, and I think we ended up ubering there (not expensive) and we got the train back. Fine in the summer, and it is nice little place Yeah, loads of steps down, and once you are in, you are in, and it is fairly regimented, I found it amazing, OH found it a bit boring, kids mixed. It is quite expensive (relatively) Flippermuseum is good for all ages, would highly recommend. Schindlers Factory is maybe just about OK for older kids (again queues, expensive, and although it is more interactive, it isn't "fun" some of it may be lost on them). I agree completely with your decision on Auschwitz. Not only because of the subject matter, but logistically. 15/16 yo plus, maybe. Going up to the castle can be quite good, you do not have to go in. If you want a nice little break / snack that works well with kids, check out Lajkonik, there are quite a few in Krakow, bit like a costa, wifi, warm, good cakes, good toilets and menu deals that are called sets, where you get a sandwich and a drink for less than a fiver, and less for chocolate croissant and a drink, The MaccyDs in the town square with it's open air seating was also a bit of a win when you have kids, same view as the restaurants. I also liked Chimera (just off town square) with its boho vibes and set menu (again about a fiver) but this was not a universal hit with my kids who declared the food "too weird". A 24 hour transport pass is good for kids who hate walking, although ubers are cheap too, but they won't pick up in some of the streets in Kazimierz as they are pedestrian only. We quite liked climbing the Krakus Mound (great views) and it is doable, but more for kids who like walking. HTH x
