Where would you go for 7-10 nights in early October?

Budget not massive - maybe £1,500 each for flights and decent accommodation.

Greece looks a bit iffy weather wise. We were thinking Barbados or even Thailand, but open to suggestions.

Crete. We’ve gone October half term 2025 and 2024 and it was incredible both times.

Lanzerote Tenerife

Barcelona? Southern US?

Dontevenlookatme · 07/08/2026 15:32

Southern Spain. Lovely weather in early October, and lots of variety whether you want beaches or city culture. Malaga has both!

Shinyhappyapple · 07/08/2026 15:36

Depends on whether you want it to be reliably hot and sunny. We are going to Sorrento early October this year. Expecting it to be early to mid 20s weather-wise, with some cloud, maybe a storm.

Turkey

ChoccyHobknob · 07/08/2026 15:40

Egypt. The Red Sea. It's about 30° then and cracking beaches and sea.

D1nnerthyme · 07/08/2026 15:49

Algarve. We went a few times that time of year and not to jinx it but had lovely weather every time.

It’ll have to be Canaries or North Africa with that budget, Morocco, Tunisia, Lanzarote…. It’s not going to get you long haul.

Naples

Is that £1500 for 2 people for 7-10 days?

Maybe Sicily, Ishchia or Algarve if the budget will stretch.

hrumphina · 07/08/2026 16:06

Each - and longhaul flights are only around £600 to either Thailand or Barbados… so that’d be £900 each for accommodation

Another vote for Malaga. Can't be beaten for a bit of everything. The city is really great for food, drinks, shopping, museums, culture etc. The resorts are nearby and accessible by train. Benalmadena for example is a short train trip from the city and is quite nice for a beach zone if that's what you want. Further South is my favourite spot on the Costa del Sol - Estepona. Short flight too, and plenty of them at that time of year also.

It’s the perfect time to go to the med and I would go Greece or Turkey

I would go somewhere like Kalkan or olu deniz in Turkey because they’ve got some nice upmarket hotels and I’m not personally keen on long haul for less than 2 weeks , otherwise maybe Chania or Aghios Nikolais Crete or paphos in Cyprus or even Marbella - which you could do a 50/50 with Seville with -( one of my favourite holidays-was also October and around 28 degrees and sunny ) I’m not personally a huge canaries fan but playa Blanca in Lanzarote isn’t a bad bet - as is Madeira ( some fab hotels) - reason I wouldn’t go Thailand or Caribbean is it can be and often is hurricane season in Caribbean and it’s one of thailands wettest most unpredictable times. I enjoyed Marrakech too at that time of year , but realise it’s total marmite on here and depends on your ‘hassle factor’ tolerance - although I found it way less bad than Egypt , hotel was totally fab ( Sofitel) and food some of the best I’ve had anywhere at the mid market level.

As per my post - there’s a reason for that - it’s a riskier time for weather in both. Mexico maybe? But again it’s somewhat in that possibility of hurricanes time

Seoul or Tokyo

SwedishEdith · 07/08/2026 20:53

Séville, Granada, Malaga, anywhere in southern Spain. Perfect time to go.

Dontevenlookatme · 08/08/2026 08:00

You aren’t limited to the holiday hot spots of the Costa de Sol in Southern Spain, the beautiful and unspoiled Costa de la Luz from Tarifa to the border with Portugal is worth a visit. It’s on the Atlantic coast though so might be a bit more weathery.

For me in October has to be Malta, still warm less tourist. I love it depends where you are in the island most place have a good bus service but if you Choose Gozo I would get a car are you can see so much more and a car is so much more convenient in Gozo. Where ever you choose to go I hope its just what you want and you get to have fun, and enjoy.
