Few days in Weston super mare - things to do?

Booked a few days away in Weston super mare.

Never been. We will be me, DP and DS whos 4.

Anyone have any suggestions of things to do? Going for 4 nights. 1 day at the beach flying kites and making sand castles otherwise nothing planned!

We have a car and happy to travel 30 minutes to anywhere close.

We are a pretty active family but im talking a few hours swimming not a 3 hour hike! We enjoy a little walk but there must be a destination and something slightly entertaining at the end (for the 4 year old...)

Jill Dando's garden is nice.
You've got change of scene in Burnham and there's amusements in Brean.

You've got Pirate Adventure land mini golf in Weston.
There's a SEND children's park in Worle with mini trampolines which I don't think they gatekeep as such, but also not sure of the condition it's in.
You can drive from Weston to Burnham. You also have Wells, Cheddar and Bristol but obviously they are further out.
Wookey Hole Caves are great but use Tesco clubcard - they end this Sept - but might take longer than half an hour if you get caught in traffic.

and there's also a petting zoo in Burnham.
But if in Weston for four days, you can obviously do beach for one, mini golf for two, slotties and fish n chips for three and day four pick a trip.

I’d spend time in Bristol, it’s a lovely city with quite a lot to do.

Weston has beach, pier, bowling near Cineworld, some semi decent places to eat and cafes

We enjoy a day out at Puxton Park.

There's also a new lido at Brean that looks good.

Weston has a newly revamped marine lake with safe swimming and a little beach. Really handy if you fancy a swim or paddle and the tide is out. It goes out a LOOOOONNNNG way.

Don’t go in the sea! It’s very poo dirty all along that coast!

I'm confused by the concept of going on a 4 day break to the seaside and not spending every day on the beach. For me (us, as a family) that's why we go to the seaside.

One other idea about 20minutes drive away is The Strawberry Line.
It's a lovely safe cycle track along an old railway line. You can park and get on the line at Yatton Station where there is bike hire (for all ages) and a lovely volunteer run cafe. https://www.thestrawberryline.org.uk/

This isn't true. The water quality in Weston Marine Lake today is tested as Excellent as is the water in Clevedon Marine Lake. I swim in the latter every day (as do hundreds of other people) and it's clean and lovely.

Should add that if your little one might enjoy a train ride you can get the train from WSM to Yatton where the Strawberry Line starts. You cross a little foot bridge over the rail track and you're at the cafe and bike hire shop.

The train runs every half hour, takes about 10 minutes and an off peak return would cost about £15 for the three of you. Beautiful countryside all the way.

I wpuld give Burnham a miss ... it is glued together with dog excrement!

Get out go Weston and drive to Glastonbury. Much better day out.

Wells is nice too.

The beach is on an estuary, you can't really swim at Weston, some people swim from clevedon which is nearby. Weston is a sandy beach and a pier, plus shops.

That's mean, she's asking about her holiday and you're being mean spirited, do better.

It's silt not shite. Check the water quality. We swim in until marine lake, it's lovely, especially when it's topped over.

Iv'e never been here but my friend cycles on it regularly and says how nice it is.

Glastonbury is great but I don't think it's a particularly fun day out for children.

The lido in Portishead is lovely but often fully booked when it's hot. Portishead also has a lake for feeding ducks and a playground, nice views, good for a walk. The windmill pub up the road has great views. Clevedon pier is lovely but maybe not with a four year old. Sand bay is a beach along from Weston that's nothing like as busy/noisy. Bristol is worth a visit, loads to do there. Burnham is a bit depressing, the lighthouse on the beach is pretty.
There's a splash park on the front at Weston. Apart from that mainly shops and pubs I think. There's a few parks.

It is expensive for a day but the pp who mentioned Puxton Park reminded me of how much my kids enjoyed it x I'd forgotten to mention Sand Bay too.
I think you have plenty to do over four days.
Ignore the naysayers, Weston and Burnham are fine for a four year old. Yes, there are more attractive places as many of our seaside places are getting a bit rundown (as was always the case for those that remember Every day is like Sunday 😉) but any holiday is what you make of it. You can always just take a picnic to the beach or park, walk the walkways near the sea, beachcomb, take photos of street art, or go out to a teashop in Frome.
Whatever you choose, your child will have a whale of a time. 🐳

Another vote for Puxton Park, my DC loved it when they were younger. There was also a pirate themed crazy golf by the front at Weston that they liked, and an ice cream shop called PJs that was good.

I lived in central Weston when my dd was small, that was a fair few years ago now but the water park on the seafront was brilliant, a good playpark even in the winter, and plenty of shade when it's hot.
Also the museum is great, always lots of kids activities, we lived very close by and spent a lot of wet afternoons there.
