Few days in Weston super mare - things to do?

Booked a few days away in Weston super mare.

Never been. We will be me, DP and DS whos 4.

Anyone have any suggestions of things to do? Going for 4 nights. 1 day at the beach flying kites and making sand castles otherwise nothing planned!

We have a car and happy to travel 30 minutes to anywhere close.

We are a pretty active family but im talking a few hours swimming not a 3 hour hike! We enjoy a little walk but there must be a destination and something slightly entertaining at the end (for the 4 year old...)

There’s a lovely crazy golf next to the ferris wheel and the arcades are good fun

We like to visit lots of different places in the UK (the good the bad and the ugly!) and DS absolutely loves exploring new areas. We would have a blast and make the most of it wherever we go!

I will definitely be checking out these suggestions!

We the curious in Bristol is a great day out, book the planetarium too.

There is a scarecrow trail happening in Nailsea in August. It’s about a half hour drive from Weston-Super-Mare. May be of interest to you, may not be though.

Not for a 4 year old it isn't. It's alright if you want to buy crystals or gawp at smack heads.

If you are National Trust members, Tyntesfield is near by (about half hour drive I think)

Best thing to do in WSM is get on the M5 and floor it

There is a lovely walk along beach to Uphill (a nice little village with great church, nature reserve and a good pub) or going the other way you can get an open top bus to Kewstoke, thrilling ride along a cliff edge to get there and stunning sand dunes and many walks to be had there.

The trains to Bristol are quick and frequent and lots of fun things to do there, zaa zaa bazaar on the harbour is the biggest world buffet in Europe, I have heard and my kid loved it for the pure spectacle! The boat rides in Bristol are good fun too. The old quarry in Weston is nice and an Iron Age fort if you walk from Weston to Kewstoke through the woods.

Last one! St Werberghs city farm in Bristol is great fun for kids and there are some straight trains to Bath from Weston and Bath has great parks, boats trips etc.

You must go and look at the decaying remains of Birnbeck Pier - you can only see it from a distance but it's fascinating and a great photo opportunity. Nice walk to it round from the main beach area,

Great idea. The Pier is actually being renovated right now. If your DS is as into diggers and cranes as mine was it might be worth a visit OP.

Bristol Balloon Fiesta is on 7-9th August at Ashton Court

The Uphill Beach end is the nicest if you want a seaside day.

And so is the splash park someone mentioned above, which is just behind Weston seafront.

The marine lake is good, and has a sandy beach. There are a couple of nice cafés next to it too - www.drfoxstearoom.co.uk has lovely views.

I’d not do much where you are staying use it as a base.

I’d go inland to wells, Glastonbury, street and the Somerset levels all of which are lovely.

your kids might like wookey hole.

cheddar gorge.

go down to minehead, stunning Dunster and exmoor.

Donkey rides on the beach and the pier are lovely

It might not be for everyone but

1.We enjoy seeing new places. Even if they are horrible! We could enjoy ourselves anywhere.

2.My partner lost his job a few weeks ago and we have had a lot of other terrible shit happen. We still wanted DS to go somewhere for a few days this summer holiday and found a cheap deal to get to the seaside.

Im asking for suggestions on what to do not if I should go.

There is a playground with a splash park quite near the beachfront wetherspoons

You can do a lovely walk from the pier turn right (if looking at pier) and you walk along to a lovely little beach where they have sup and kayak hire. You could hire these or if you have a blow up boat go in it here, it’s a smaller beach in a cove great for paddling etc

We did a family trip here last year and really loved it

The Ferris wheel is good fun! My son and his cousins loved it

My dc loved the ice cream place there ( think it's called pjs) we were in there daily sometimes twice!
