East Midlands. Mix of things to do and beach and nightlife

Prague or Dubrovnik

lookatmylife · 18/07/2026 17:56

Ibiza, Palma, Barcelona, Dubrovnik.

Greece, I’m just back from Skiathos and had a brilliant time.

BePoisedPlumUser · 18/07/2026 18:04

Split is fabulous

chroniclesofj · 18/07/2026 18:09

I forgot to say this is a solo trip

City?
Sea side/beach?

Berlinlover · 18/07/2026 18:32

Madeira and Berlin are my two favourite places in the world.

What sort of nightlife and what sort of budget? How old are you?

Ibiza is popular and its lovely even if you don't like clubbing but not everyone likes that sort of club and its expensive.

Tbh, I think we're sometimes too hung up on finding 'the best' especially when using other people's preferences. If its a solo holiday you're looking to book for this summer, I'd start by looking at where you can get a sensibly priced flight when you want to go to somewhere that's the sort of place you know you like.

Ryanair from east midlands go to Malaga, Alicante, Faro and Palma, all beach areas.
My favourite beach holiday is Biarritz, fantastic vibe at night - dining outside, rooftop bar, people watching whilst sat at beach cafés and no loud drunks staggering about, however you would have to fly from Stansted.

notacooldad · 18/07/2026 21:22

For a solo trip, I love Oslo. So much to do especially in the summer.
Down by the harbour people swim in the water and you are right next to the art gallery where people hang out.
Gdansk and Sopot are also great for solo travellers.
Another favourite is Gothenburg.
My final suggestion woukd be Warsaw. Fabulous 👌

Darragon · 18/07/2026 21:26

Greece every time.

ItalianChineseIndianMexican · 18/07/2026 21:29

Lisbon

OhLaDiDaDiDa · 18/07/2026 21:34

I do love Venice and I could very easily spend five days there alone as long as the weather was fine.

hahabahbag · 18/07/2026 21:38

Only limited flights from east mids, but I would say Italy is my favourite

hellospring26 · 18/07/2026 21:38

Ibiza. Somewhere like Santa Elulia.

ProjectsGalore · 18/07/2026 21:54

Copenhagen is just gorgeous but I’m also a big fan of Berlin! Depends if you want to see sights or fly and flop by the pool.

Apfelkuchen · 18/07/2026 21:59

Lisbon for a city based break, or Croatia for coast

FindingMeno · 18/07/2026 22:02

Sweden. Safe, not madly hot, and English widely spoken.

Croatia for history and clear sea. Rocky rather than sandy beaches - suits me perfectly. Just bring water shoes. Dubrovnik has it all but if you can do island hopping then it’s even better. There is night life.

MinnieMountain · 19/07/2026 09:30

Alghero in Sardinia. I took our 12yo there without DH in May (DH had buggered up his knee) and plan to go there by myself next year.

This sounds fabulous, history and sea swimming are big plusses for me.
Did you stay in Dubrovnik ?

(Planning next years holiday having just come back from this year's 🤣.)

ItsPickleRick · 19/07/2026 13:37

Ibiza. It’s a really beautiful island.
