Heatwave - dreading holiday in Paris next week

DH and I are booked to go to Paris next week. The average highs in June are around 23 degrees, which is about the max I can handle. But the forecast is up to 40 every day. This wasn't what we were expecting at all.

I'm dreading it. The metro doesn't have aircon and neither do any of the places I've booked to eat (I've now cancelled them all). We had an assortment of walking routes planned, but none are going to be realistic.

We've spent a fortune on a lovely hotel room and Eurostar travel, so I can't bear to cancel the whole thing.

Does anyone have advice or reassurance or am I just going to absolutely hate it?!

Sounds like you’re not far from me. I was in Paris yesterday and although about 38 it was much more manageable than home - aircon, taxis and narrow streets. Today’s horrendous, can’t go outside.

I’m in Bucharest next week. 37 degrees on Tuesday. FML.

For those still following and maybe travelling in the next day or two - Meteo France have just added another tranche of Departments to the Red list, effective midnight tonight..about the only area in the relative clear is the Med Coast/South Eastern Departments.

FWIW we're still on an Orange warning at Chez nous, above 41C again, but not technically in canicule because our night time temps drop to a level where we don't meet the canicule criteria.

Ooh I am going to a yellow bit on Saturday (but have to travel through red to get there), however I currently live in a red zone in the UK so you know.
